X-Treme Electric Scooters, Alpha Products International, Inc. needs to be shut down! Their business practices are deceptive and unethical, and their customer service is criminal! This type of business poorly represents the great state of Iowa.
I purchased an X-560 Electric Scooter ($354) for my daughter for Christmas, 2007. The scooter would not start on Christmas morning. As of January 31, 2008, my daughter has yet to ride her Christmas gift. This matter has been devasting to her, and to me in trying to deal with these people.
The scooter arrived defective; it would not start. To top that off, parts were broken as well. I reported the matter immediately and was told we had to fill out a ticket and they would call me in 24 hours. 24 hours and even days passed, with no call.
I called and tried to talk with Woody, the person who sold the scooter to me over the phone. He pretended as if he was going to get someone to help me, but sent me to voicemail. I left a message but never received a response. Later, I called back, left a voice message, but never received a response.
I kept calling, and when I got someone, I was told I had to wait. I stayed around the house expecting a call that never came until almost a week later. A replacement part was sent, but it did not address the problem. I called again to request immediate assistance.
I talked to a customer service agent named "Annie". She got upset with me for complaining and hung up on me. I called back and spoke with Woody, and he pretended again that he was to get someone to help me. He sent me back to Annie who hung up on me again.
Technical support calls from an unidentified number, and if they do not get you on the phone, they will send you an email saying that they had responded to your ticket and that they had left a message on your phone. No message is left, however. They are untrustworthy and deceptive.
It's days later before you get another call. I have asked that they give me a time and day in which they would call, so that I would make sure I was available. No response.
I got so frustrated that I asked for a refund. I am told there are no refunds or exchanges. I contested, and they indicated that I would have to pay to ship the item back ($100+) plus pay a $35 restock fee.
This is ridiculous!!! How do you restock a defective product? I did not ask them to send me an item that did not work!
Am I missing something or what??? The item NEVER worked -- at all!!!
I have tried everything possible to deal with these people in a professional manner. I am going through pure torment to get justice in this matter, but I won't stop until I do!
X-Treme Scooters NEEDS TO BE PROSECUTED AND PUT OUT OF BUSINESS. Consumers deserve better, Iowa deserve better, and I do hope our State and Federal Laws guarantee that we do!
