Xupiter.com ripoff victimized many consumers Nationwide Internet
Xupiter.com is such a "great" co. They have it set up so that the consumer doesn't have to go to their web site, or download their program, or even install it. No. They do it all for you. Whether you want it or not. whether you realize or not. After spending the last 7 hours trying to get my comp to stop showing error pop-ups, and directing me to blind links on the net, I have found out some things... spywareinfo.com calls it a "drive-by downloader".
Xupiter.com downloads and installs it's program w/out you requesting, or even knowing it. It then changes your homepage, screws up your internet browser, your search engines, directs you to their search page, which is usually just a blind link that dosen't go anywhere, and proceeds to increase it's space on your hard drive.
I have been able to use their search page a few times, and all I can get are links to porn, for viagra, and online casinos. Just what I want my kids to come across. This is BULL$H*T!!! I have found on 4 different web site message boards almost 12,000 postings trying to get this crap off of peoples comps. Class action suit anyone?

Run Spy or Ad Protection

Welcome to the internet. Everyone should run anti-spy ware and Ad ware programs like Spybot or Ad-aware. Buy the shrinkwarped versions, if you can afford it. Virus protection alone will not keep the slime out. Have been been hit with these creeps without clicking on anything. Just landed on a website hunting for info.
I also use a Firewall and hide behind a router and still get hit.
