Y Members Jason I cant believe these guys are in business! YMCA Ohio
I really dont know where to start off with this company. Basically they are called Y Members and work with YMCA's to get new members for them. I was hired as a caller to call residences and invite them to come down for a no pressure tour and 2 week pass. I just really feel like what I witnessed while working there should be heard by other YMCA's. I grew up with and love the YMCA and used to go with my parents all the time which is why I was happy and excited to help the YMCA out when I saw the ad in the newspaper. And being a college student their schedule they were hiring for really worked for me. But I hope other YMCA's will see this and not use this company for the following reasons:
First, they really treat these callers with no respect! They are mean, short and cold with the people they hire and really act like they are above everyone else. Not good managment in my eyes... One of the guys there, Jason, really stood out of the crowd. He was very cocky and acted like the world revolved around him! Its hard to proudly work for people like that! And I'm just getting started! He always bragged about how he was a DJ and would play really annoying music in the call room when we were trying to work... Would any of you want to listen to music from a guy who calls himself "DJ XXX"? And yes... he even had that imprinted on the back of his car. Not to mention that most of us callers were women and he just thought that all of us wanted to date him... YUCK!
Second, they are totally two faced! They cussed and used fowel language in our call room almost every day but would go out and smile to an old lady 30 seconds later! It was disgusting how some of them talked, like it was no big deal mind you. If it wasnt stories of how drunk they got last night, then it was about a dirty joke or catching up on the woman they were with like they were bragging about it in front of all of us callers!
Third, every day they smelled like cigarettes through out the day and they would give people tours smelling like that! Once they got mad because the Y told them they had to go 50 feet away from the building to smoke and were having to many complaints from people walking in. I mean really!?
The list can go on but one of the things that just really bothered myself and the rest of the callers was their inconsistancy to get our paychecks on time. Alot of us really depended on that check every weekend and probably more than 4 or 5 times while I was there they got our paychecks to us late, meaning people would have to go the whole weekend. Just plain unprofessional! I wonder what the owner would do if he knew any of this!
None the less, I do agree with and was happy to help support what they are trying to do to help the YMCA. But I wanted to help other YMCA's by letting them know about what my experience was. I hope that if Y Members reaches out to you that you see this and find a better, more professional company to help you.

So your complaint is that you had to work with HUMANS!!! How shocking that they would want to be more like them selves when not on the phone. I mean HOW RUDE!!!! To tell dirty jokes, and BS with co workers!!!!
Now that the sarcasm is done, You must have lived a VERY VERY sheltered life. You do realize that High School wasnt the entire world right?? People WILL tell dirty jokes, people WILL socialize with co workers. This is just how it goes. NO ONE LIKES HAVING TO BE A DIFFERENT PERSON WHEN THEY ARE AT WORK!! SO yes they are going to tell jokes and socialize. Its called being human.
As for your paycheck being late, ok I would give you that if your original post didnt sound like some preteen girl shocked that people are people. There are many factors that would cause a check to be late. The biggest would be the CORPORATION that runs the YMCA did not pay them. But thats no concern of yours is it. No much easier to bi+ch then find out the cause. They MUST be horrible people because you didnt get paid in a timely manner.
As for them smoking. Who the hell are you to judge them?? Youre DEFINATLY NOT GOD!!! Its their choice and their right as Americans. Ok so they smelled like smoke. Get over it princess. There are MANY ways to NOT smell like smoke. But instead of giving them a few hints as to their body odor, YOU feel its ok to bash them because they are useing their RIGHTS AS AN AMERICAN!!!!!
Did you ever think to maybe inform them that there are plenty of MUSK body sprays that compliment the smell of smoke? No, you didnt do that. You instead feel its ok to bash them for being human. Grow a slightly thicker skin princess. YOU AINT ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS!! You HAVE to live with the world, it doesnt HAVE to live with you. YOU could drop dead and only those people that know you would care. The rest of the world WILL go on without you. You need to remember that. Yes you are in college, but this is supposed to be a time of LEARNING, not BI+CHNG!!!
Eventually you will have more experience with LIFE. Once that happens I really hope you look back at this post and laugh at YOUR silliness. Your calling this company out because the workers are HUMAN BEINGS. They are ALL INDIVIDUALS. They DO NOT fit into YOUR world View. The best thing you could have done is TRY and understand. But I fear you are TOO YOUNG to do that effectivly. Perhaps removing that corn cobb from your rump will put you in a better mood.
