Somewhere along the line, Yahoo! made a deal with Spammers to eliminate Spam
redirected to your Spam folder from being immediately deleted.
Now you must manually delete, or set to delete at intervals. This type of deal
smells to high Heaven, and what does Yahoo! think they stand to gain ?
A phony Email address I established on Yahoo to trap Spammers gets 100+
Spams per day, and daily manual deletion is the only reasonable option, since
you certainly don't want to have to do 3k-4k every week or so.
Beware of YAHOO! Email. You have been warned.

For your answer as to what Yahoo! stands to gain from this "deal" they made with the spammers to send their spam to the spam folder.
While we are on the subject of this deal. How about providing sources to show proof of your claim that they made such a deal in the first place. Since Yahoo is a publicly traded company I am sure that their stock holders and probably the SEC would love to know about this deal.

That you actually had enough brain cells to enable you to actually use a computer.
Seriously, if Yahoo made any deal with spammers wouldn't you think that they would send the spam e-mails to your In-Box rather than being redirected to a folder for Spam?
I think it is hilarious that you actually have spent the time to set up an account to "catch" Spammers. It's not like you are trying to find sunken treasure in the middle of Iowa. If you have enough time to create an account specifically to catch spammers you have time to manually delete them. Of course it DOESN'T matter because Yahoo automatically deletes them automatically after a certain amount of time anyways and this folder doesn't effect your storage at all. But if Yahoo accidentally marks an item as spam that isn't really spam this delay gives you time to catch it.
If you still truly believe they are doing this, perhaps you can actually answer your own question..."what does Yahoo! think they stand to gain?"
