Purchased a new F90 4-stroke Yamaha outboard in Spring of 2014.  Worked fine until I trailered it home at end of Summer. Tried to winterize it, it wouldn't start.  I spent 4 days going through the gas system, put in new gas, to be sure that wasn't the problem.    Couldn't get a spark.  Finally took it to marina where I bought it, told them I thoroughly checked gas, had no spark.  They RE-DID all the gas work I did before putting on their computer diagnostic tool.   Turns out, it was two TINY plastic clips on the $685 electronic control unit (ECU).    They replaced it, but charged me $400 for all the labor.

Yamaha outboard told me "they stand by their dealer".  In other words, they would not help.  When I asked if he purchased a new car today, and had a similar thing happen, would this sound like a warranty to him?   He just said, "We stand by our dealer".   I certainly will never buy another Yamaha.
