Very similar to the Rip Off report that was filed here in March 2005. Too bad I didn't read it before I signed the contract. They sell themselves as the best roofing company ever to have existed, the job would be seamless and you would barely even know they were there after the job was complete. Ty and all his staff feed everyone lies! They tried very hard to short you materials, and not perform on all parts of the contract.

After I signed the contract, they never returned calls, showed up unexpectedly and showed little or no respect for my property or privacy. Light fixtures were broken inside and outside of the house and they refused to take responsiblity. They ENTERED my house without my presence (they came though the garage door operator internal release devise). They laid the material pile half infront of my driveway and half on my lawn. The lawn died. It took over seven working days until they said they were "complete".

It took three more weeks and a call to the GAF representive (roofing componets manufacutrer) to get Ty off the planet that he lives on to review the shotty workmanship that his "professional" crew performed. When they did complete those workmanship errors, they were completed in only a half assed, don't care for my customer, hate my job, don't know what I'm doing kinda way.

I'm sorry that the writer did not recieve the kind of customer service that I have grown accustomed to seeing here. IF his report is true, I encourage him to please call me personally at the cell number listed below. I take great pride in the fact that, I never leave or allow my men to leave, a job site that is not up to my VERY high standards.
With that being said, let me now introduce myself and give you a little back ground.
My name is Steve. I have spent the last 26 yrs. learning, teaching and loving my career as the best Master Craftsman in the roofing industry. I graduated from the California State Apprenticeship Program for roofing and waterproofing in 1992. Then went on to teach the same for the Dept. of Education. My portfolio includes multi-million dollar homes in beautiful Pebble Beach in the 90's and more recently a very complicated and beautiful roof for Captain Jack Chapman and his lovely wife, Linda, in Fair Oaks. Over the years I have given my all on every project I ever been on. No matter the price or location.
And now to the point of my rebuttle... I am currently the Project Manager for Yancey Bros.,(and, yes, we are the Greatest Roofing company in the Sacramento area and beyond...).You may ask why I can make such a boastfull statement? And my answer is quite simple, QUALITY. And not just in our finished product. But in our personel. Not just at the managerial level, but at ALL levels. I would personally pit our installers against the best anyone could offer. At production, quality, cleanliness, honesty, integrety, etc...
I have this kind of faith in our crews because I am not a desk jocky manager. I put my bags with these same men and work side by side with them. Not as often as I'd like, but enough. But when I'm not, I get a chance to pass along my vast wealth of knowledge in anoher way... thru our very own, in-house Apprenticeship Program! Yes, thats right, Apprenticeship Program. It is four years of learning how to apply roofs the right way, my way, the Yancey way. These young men are given their first set of tools,(everything they need), automatic pay raises and a real career for life. Do you know of ANY other roofing company that can say that?
Okay, enough all ready? I could go on and on about the components that make us the best, our Project Coordinator, who can juggle a thousand details a day or our Operations Manager, who is so very protective of our reputation and commitment to the community...I could also give you thousands of names of satisfied "YANCEY" customers. We do approx. 350 finished projects in the roofing division here, but out of all of those can you guess which ones I think about the most? The ones I have read about here! I never want anyone to be able to say that our company, MY company, did not do everything it could to give you the best possible home improvement money can buy.
So once again I offer this to you...IF your letter was real, call me. Allow me the chance to prove to you that we do care about our customers and their home improvement projects. You will find my personal mobile number below.
Before I close, just one question... How in the world did those Yancey employees ever get into your garage to actuate the release handle on the garage door unless you left it unlocked for them? And if you did, why mention how they opened it anyway?
