Yellow Plum listed a promotion in Groupon.  $65 toward dinner, for $40.  The limitations included that, for Friday or Saturday night, you have to have a reservation.  The terms included no limitations on holidays.  I purchased the groupon, and called to make a reservation for Valentine's Day (which was on a Saturday this year).  The restaurant took the reservation.  I told them on the phone that I'd be usuing a groupon, and they said "no problem!"

Wednesday of that week, they called to confirm the reservation.  I confirmed it.  The afternoon of Valentine's Day (on which it was snowing), I called to make sure they were open.  They confirmed that they were and that they had my reservation.

When we arrived, we informed the server (as groupon instructs) that we would be using a groupon.  The server said they weren't honoring groupons because it was Valentine's Day.  I emphasized that I had told the person who had taken my initial reservation that I would be using a groupon.  She wouldn't budge.  I asked to see the manager.

The server went into the kitchen, and then came back and said that the manager wouldn't be coming out, but that he had confirmed that they wouldn't be honoring the groupon.  I said we wouldn't leave until he came and spoke to us.  She went into the kitchen again, came out and said he was going to be some time.  I repeated that we wouldn't leave without speaking to him.

Finally, he emerged, and was extremely rude from the moment he came to our table.  He accused me of lying about having informed them of the groupon when I made the reservation.  They wouldn't honor the groupon, despite the fact that nothing on it says that it's not good on holidays.  When I raised my voice, he threatened to call the police.

It's important to note that THE RESTAURANT WAS HALF EMPTY.  Even if he had a right to just "decide" not to take groupons that people had already paid for, it was MORONIC to make that decision.  When we left, he did not have another table to take our place.
