On 9/11/2009 I contacted YRC to have them ship a truck cap, I had purchased from a used car dealer in Northeast PA, and ship it to my buiseiess in Hancock NH.After a couple of phone calls to there customer service rep / sales rep, we had agreed upon the terms of the shipment. I clearly stated that the cap was used, in new condition, and had them verify what shipping class, handeling proceedures and damage coverage I had....   She told me, It would be front loaded at pickup, it would be moved only once by hand from one truck to another to be delivered. She told me I did not have to state the truck caps value, because I was covered at a rate of $25.00 per pound, and my 400# shipping weight gave me $10,000.00 coverage, which is in far excess of my purchase price of $450.00, and in far excess of the caps replacement value of $1300.00.the shipping was to have cost $227.61.To shorten this up, Yrc shipped the cap, 2 days late. Keep in mind two things, I was the Shipper and receiver, and the used car dealer, is not a cap dealer.Upon arrival, the cap was determined to have had a pallet jack rammed through the rear glass door, and fiberglass damage upon the leading edge. They told me it would be hand loaded, this did not happen. So  refused to receive the damaged goods. The driver told me I did not have to do anything, and I would be contacted by YRC. This never happened. About a week later I contacted YRC, and they said I would have to File the claim, So this I did. After one months time and numorous unanswered phone calls, I finally got my answer.......My shipment is considered "used personal affects" and is covered at a rate of $.50 per LB. and they will send me a check for $200.00. they also still have my truck cap, and have billed me for the $227.61.Now I am not disputing YRC's rules and rates and coverage, but they missinformed me every step of the way in this process, and I asked all the right questions upon making the arrangements for this shipment, and they lied about my damage coverage.I never would have agreed to ship a truck cap, with them if they had disclosed there"used personal affects" clause, but I was assured my cap was covered!
