Zero Plus Dialing, Dba Custom Teleconnect PayPhone Long Distance RipOff, $8 per minute for 10 mile call Las Vegas Nevada
I stopped at a pay phone to make a credit card call to a subscriber about 10 miles away. The call lasted just over 2 minutes which of course is charged as 3 minutes.
I was stunned when I received a bill for just under $24 for the 3 minute, 10 mile, call. When I contacted the company I was told I had made a collect call from my phone. I was at last able to convince them that it was a credit card call.
The person answering the phone must get a lot of complaints over charges since she answered saying 'What about your bill would you like to discuss?'
After hearing my complaint I was offered a 'deal' which would reduce the charges by about $10. I accepted the offer, but reserved the right to file a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission should they have regulatory jurisdiction in this matter.
I am also complaining to my telephone provider for their business arrangement with this unethical and price-gouging long distance provider.
