Complaint Review: Zhejiang Gaoming glass co.ltd

I initiated a transaction through Alibaba with Luke Hu (who changes his email name frequently) alex_qt1999@hotmail.com in november 2012. our agreement was that payment was to be wired up front and i would receive 16 laminated glass flooring panels within 15 days. obviously, this sounded ridiculous as theres no way to ship that fast by ocean frieght, so i assumed it was a translation difficulty on their part and that it meant (despite precise wording to the contrary) the items woudl be shipped out of china on that date. Mr. Hu was very difficult to get information from once being paid, and refused to ever provide any proof of shipment, insisting it would arrive in December. By the end of December he said the shipment was lost and that they would make another shipment. He still failed to respond to all requests for proof it ever shipped in the first place. Finally in late february, my glass arrived. The items were sized incorrectly, incorrectly assembled and extremely poorly packed resulting in lots of scratches. I contacted the vendor and they took weeks to reply and began claiming (despite zero documentation in our agreements or in any of our lengthy specifications emails) that the mistakes in size and assembly were within an acceptable error threshold for chinese glass manufacturing. to this day, they still refuse to provide me any information on this supposed standard threshold. the panels were specified down to the millimeter per the vendor's request and were off by over 1cm in size. they were triple laminated tempered panels and as such can't be cut down or reshaped. not only was the size wrong, but the layers of the panels were crooked.

after it became clear the vendor would do nothing to fix the situation , i went to Alibaba to file a claim. their claim process is a joke. the vendor immediately began playing a shell game with various company names to avoid the claim being posted against them. contradicting themselves from email to email. while alibaba was still investigating and pursuing the issue against one of the numerous company names Luke Hu operates under (Gaoming Glass) , he remained in touch via email discussing possible resolutions, all of which were ridiculous and would result in me paying for replacements for the improperly manufactured and shipped glass. once Alibaba closed the complaint against one of his supposed companies and reopened it under another, he stopped communicating completely.

the whole process has been absurd - the crazy shipping delays, numerous documented contradictions, outright lies (via email) and poor quality items not manufactured as specified. I recommend not doing any business with this individual, any company he represents (all aliases of the same group) or even alibaba due to their poor handling. it seems they have no interest in letting complaints get filed against their paying Gold members.
