ZImports Inc Fraudulent Dealer - Removal of both Catalytic Converters from my 4runner Indianapolis, Indiana
I bought a 4 runner from this dealership (Zimports Inc, Indianapolis, Indiana) few months back. Car was not used as I was out of the country for work. Upon returning, I moved to another state that requires emissions inspections. I had previously noted the truck was burning rich but just was not sure why and assumed it is because it is a 4runner.
During my inspection the following were discovered:
Both Catalytic converters were removed from the truck. You can clearly tell that this was a deliberate act looking at the exhaust pipes and the welding that took place. In addition, to hide the removal of the converters, the check engine, VSC, Trac off and other bulbs relating to emissions were removed from the Dash.
This makes it look like the car is normal as you cannot see any lights indicating issues when infact these lights are suppose to be on.
To correct all the problems (replacing the bulbs in the dash, replacing the catalytic converters and all the sensors), I spent approximately $4,000 at a Toyota dealership.
I am putting this information out in cyberspace so that others will not fall victim of this fraudulent practice.
