ZPDI, OPTICOM RIP-OFF COLLECT CALLS CORPUS CHRISTI TEXAS
My son made a collect call from a movie theater (in the same town)to our home. The call lasted 2 minutes. When I recieved our bill I was shocked at the fee. ZPDI charged us $15.85 for the call.
I figured there was a billing error. I called them to verify and to my astonishment the amount was correct. I told the clerk that I was willing to pay a reasonable fee for the call but not the $15.85. I asked for a supervisor.
Janice, the supervisor, informed me that they could not give credit. She went on to state that I should speak to the person who made the call.
I informed her the caller was a minor and did not know that he needed to inquire about the rate for a local collect call. She was not customer friendly in any way shape or form. All she could say was "Sorry you feel that way."
After I got off the phone with them I embarked on my research about their company. All I had to do was type in the company name to find out that this company has a long history of ripping people off.
I have sent emails to everyone I know warning them of this company and the finacial damage they can inflict. Thank you for this website.

ZPDI, Opticom no law that says a minor cannot use a phone to place a collect call
#2Consumer Suggestion

Im sorry, but there is no law that says a minor cannot use a phone to place a collect call. Now if the minor had accepted the collect call, that would be another story (I assume you are not a minor). Before you accepted the collect call you could of asked the operator for the rates, they would of been available to you as well.
