*****BEWARE OF THIS LAWYER*****

I hired Hetinder, "Raja", Gill and his law firm, Gill Law Group, pc to handle a simple property dispute and divorce. My primary concern was to secure the safety and possession of froperty that was stolen from me by my soon-to-be ex wife. When I contacted Raja Gill regarding this, he put on his salesman shoes, and assured me that this was routine, that he'd done this many times before, and that he knew the judge well. Other than it being routine, everything Raja promised turned out to be lies. Raja failed this case miserably. And, when he did, I criticised him for it. He was my employee. Raja took this offensively, and began to threaten me. He also dropped my case, before finishing it.

Raja Gill sells himself well. He plays on the emotional state of his clients, and makes us believe that he caers, that he'll fight for us, and that he's well-known for doing these things. It's all lies. The judge in my case (local) had no idea who Raja Gill is/was. Raja sells himself by berating the opposing counsel (attorney), and acting like your case will be a walk in the park for him. In my case, the opposing counsel was an Injury Attorney from out of town who was working for free, and he smeared Raja Gill all over the court. His client got away with crimes (theft, fraud, and vandalism), while Raja Gill made excuses.

Raja starts out with a competitive retainer. Then, he nickles and dimes you with (at that time) $450.00 per hour phone calls and emails. These communications have time minnimums. Minnimun fee for phone calls and emails was $90.00. 70%+ of my charges went to phone calls and emails. Had Raja won my case, or even completed my case, his fees would still be excessive. Raja's, "office", is little more than card tables, and folding chairs. Other attorneys in his building have beautiful offices. And, on one ocassion, when Raja wouldn't return a phone call, I visited his office. I was looked at and treated like a complete stranger.

Gill Law Firm, pc is the wrong place to go when you need sound legal advice or representation. And; do not be fooled by Raja's advertising as an advocate of Men, Husbands, and Fathers. He's none of them.

So what is your actual complaint?

Sounds like you didn't have a case and you lost.  But what is your actual complaint against the lawyer?  Presumably, you knew about the $450/hr when you asked him to take your case.  And no lawyer works for free -- they either work on contingency (if they are 100% confident they will win the case), or they charge hourly.  Most lawyers bill for a minimum of 15 minutes when they do anything on your case, so charging $90 per email/phone call is standard.  The size of the retainer is meaningless; the only thing the retainer is there for is to make sure the lawyer gets paid.  A lawyer can't promise any kind of legal result, it's actually an ethics violation.

The fact that the other side's lawyer was working "for free" (on contingency, I assume) is a huge red flag; nobody would take a contingency case unless it was an absolute slam dunk.

And I'm not sure why you think it's important that the judge knows your lawyer.  Where do you think you live, a third world country?  A judge isn't going to rule for you just because you are represented by someone he or she knows.  And yes, it's quite possible a lawyer knows a judge, but the judge doesn't know them.  Judges see hundreds of different lawyers a month, while lawyers work with the same half-dozen judges.
