I received my annual renewal from 24 Hr Fitness and the price went up by 100%.  I was paying $119, now $219.

I called the Customer Service dept and they said go to the gym to discuss.  I went to the gym and they sent me back to Customer Service. I requested a copy of my contract and then called again.  They again sent me back to the gym. 

Today the gym Mgr told me it is happening to everyone, that the company decided to increase everyone including him.

I don't think a 100% increase should be allowed, no matter what the $ amount is.  This is absurd. 

I wish someone would start a class action lawsuit against them!

I have news for you..what you "think" doesn't matter.  What matters is what is in your contract.

Does the contract allow them to increase the dues?  Does it allow them to raise it what ever amount?

If the answer to both of those is yes, then as much as you rant and rave it won't change the fact that you have no grounds for a "Class Action Lawsuit".

You have a choice.  To continue your membership with them and pay the increase or discontinue your membership.

By the way technically $119 to $219 is NOT a 100% increase, it is only about an 84% increase.  After all if you are going to complain, you might as well get it right.
