Dear kathy you will be happy to know we lost jewelry there as well under similar circumstances. If you do a maryland judiciary search for his name you will see he was convicted of a felony for conspiracy for stealing a large number of high end watch's. He is serving 15 years, when I called the local court system they stated it was reduced to 4 years, as he has already been detained for a year I believe. However his shops are still open even though he was convicted of a felony. Which isn't supposed to happen according to there liscence. I would make a few calls if I were you and see how they can still operate.

Dear Sir: I will send you a picture of my ring ASAP. I noticed you feature stories on the main page of your web site. I pray you choose mine for a feature story. Thank you in advance for all your help and I will remember to make a donation to your pay pal account. I have also notified the organization of appraisers and the gentleman who appraised the ring is also the main man who trains appraisers. On October 1, 2005, Saturday, the day my husband went to pick up the ring, he called the police department and the sheriff's department and they would not write a report for us. They did advise us to write down all the license numbers of the cars in the parking lot. Have you ever noticed pawn shops are usually located near a police station? We also found out that Stephen Cassidy, owner of the shops does not do his paperwork properly so that it looks like the ring was never in his inventory at his business. So, if the police came into the shop to check his paperwork for stolen property from robberies, etc our ring was not in his files. All we had were the receipts where we paid him for 3 months totaling $1,500.00 and we only borrowed $2500.00. Another trick of his is he has the employees sign at the bottom of the receipts instead of the customer so if he gets rid of the first paperwork he can also make the receipts disappear. Thank GOD we kept all the payment receipts. PS: I wore that ring everyday for five years and I can still feel it on my hand. I cannot bear to look at my left hand so I cover up my hand and wear a glove on my left hand. Not that I would ever want to sell my ring but we did think of it as an investment and he took our life savings. Are there any good people out there in the world? I would try to help anyone in need but all Stephen Cassidy knows is greed. We need for him to claim the lost on his insurance. The Department of Labor and Licensing have the funds for homeowners through the Home Improvement commission when there is a loss to property from a contractor. I want my ring returned or I want my $26,000.00 plus punitive damages for all the heartache he has caused to me and to my family. One of the most honest people I know of on this planet is Oprah. Oprah is an angel on earth - Think about her name - it stands for: "One Person Raises A Halo" I do not really know why I wrote about Oprah but she is one of the best. PSS: Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Just a quick note when we first started to report this crime to someone who would listen I wrote to the Governor of Maryland and The People's Counsel. The Department of Licensing for Pawnshops, Home Improvement companies, Beauty Salons, etc. located in Baltimore City who issues these so called businesses a license would not even listen to our story. All they said was "I feel for you". What kind of answer was that to a consumer's complaint who they allow to operate a business in Maryland? I think they need an overhaul. ATTENTION: Reward for this 100 year old 5 carat ring. It took my husband 25 years to get me this ring and we have now been married for thirty years. I cry almost every night about nothing happening to this business. I know there must be tons of other people they have ripped off. Sorry for the misspelling of Dateline in the first report. I called this business today and the employees of course never know what I am talking about when I call about my 5 carat ring, 100 years old. I could just be sick. If anyone has any information please contact this website. Also Stephen Cassidy, owner of these businesses had an ad in the paper for new employees. Also the employees have to be licensed by the State of Maryland. And when my husband was there to pick up the ring one of the employees made sure his gun was loaded. My husband was not armed or was not threatening anyone. What place of business needs their employees carrying guns? Both locations and his home were also raided looking for this ring.
