AC Repair Sunrise Falsifying job needed to be done, attempted to charge close to $500 for simple cleanup job Sunrise Florida
Please stay away from this company. Not only they overestimate the job needs to be done, but also lie about what is broken and needs repair.
First - they charge $99 for service fee (pretty standard in this line of business, but about twice more than competitors). The fee could be waived (read: added to the price) if you end up getting your unit repaired by them. The only problem is their repair fees are way beyond reasonable. See for yourself:
My AC just shut off. I called this company, and technician came and said my condensing pump wasn't working. Their price for replacing the pump and vacuuming water from service pan came at whooping $475!!!
This pump costs $73 in Lowes (even cheaper in Home Depot), and I am sure even cheaper yet for the company, buying in bulk. Anyway, they charge over $400 for 30 minutes of work? That is $800/hour rate! Even lawyers and doctors do not charge at such a ridiculous rate!
Besides - there was actually nothing wrong with my pump! It works perfectly fine, and all that was needed - just some minor cleanup of the drainage pipes before they enter the pump! This company just tried to rip me off. I find extremely hard to believe that experienced technician wouldn't see it right away, or wouldn't be able to check the pump in 1 minute of his time. I am lucky that I am pretty handy myself, and have an idea about the real prices of most of the technical stuff, but most of people don't.
I understand they have some overhead expenses on receptionist and vehicles fleet, and gas, etc. So, $100/hour I would consider reasonable. $200/hour - too expensive, but still bearable. But $800/hour - it could be laughable, if it wouldn't be so sad, when I think of how many unsuspected customers have they actually fulled! I could imagine how some elderly people who do not know better, pay these crooks hundreds of their hard earned money - sometimes for nothing but simple cleanup - like in my case!
