I was married in July 2007. My husband and I took months to choose this dj and then to go through there extensive library of songs to choose all the songs we wanted played and not played. Unfortunately all the bells and whistles this company says they will give you is not true. I was told I would have the best lighting show included in the package. The lights were never even used. My list of complaints is long so please keep reading.

It started when the bridal party first arrived. We sent our best man in to retrieve parents and kids so everyone could be announced. The DJ decided he was ready and just started the music to announce when the parents weren't even to the back of the room yet. Then you have the toasts which I specifically wrote down that there would be two. Again DJ took mic after the first toast and asked for the blessing to be given. We had to stop him again to allow our other toast. Music starts and yet again DJ decided he was going to play the music he wanted due to our age group. Unfortunately if he actually looked at our play list we had a wide variety of music to suite the older crowd along with the younger crowd. We had to tell him not once but three times to play the music that was on our list.

Cake cutting time. Our song was not even played. Garter toss and bouquet toss. When the two guests caught the items it is usual tradition that they put the garter on the other guest. Dj decided he wasn't going to allow this. My photographer had to stop this and request he does this for us. This was very unprofessional service. Unfortunately it didn't stop there.

When my husband and I returned from our honeymoon I contacted Academy DJs by email stating all my complaints and frustration of the service I did not recieve. I rec. a phone call back from the president of the company Mr. Richard Barker who sympathized with me and said he would like to speak to my DJ and get back to me. Which of course I allowed a week to go by and no call back.

So I again contacted Mr. Barker who stated he still had not talked to the DJ but that he did rec. my music list and seen there was no problem with it and my selection of music was quite good due to it had all types of music for all ages. So he again said he would call back.

Needless to say I go the run around for at least a month with no answer. I told Mr. Barker that I would be reporting him to this site due to he is the one who told me about it when I signed my contract with him. He of course did not want me to do this but yet did not resolve my issues.

I am wanting a refund of the services that were not provided for me. I would not refer this company to anyone. For all the time you put into the timeline they request from you and then the DJ does not follow it. This company was very unprofessional during my reception and after.
