I've been fighting with ALP to refund me $198 for the last 17 months,(their policy is 60-90 days). After realizing it was a scam,I never entered the program
It started on June 27th, 2014,after I heard on the radio about that this service that cancels Student Loan debt. I thought that I would call to give it a try, and I talked to Sharhonda Moore, one of the reps from Broadsword Student Advantage, who sold me on a too-good-to-be-true program. So after I put down $198 to do the initiation phase with Affordable Life plans, I talked to another rep, Jim Leaderer,who explained to me a totally different plan than Sharhonda; what the real plan entailed, which was more realistic, and after breaking down the numbers and realizing that the plan was worse than than my current Sally Mae one,
I was upset and I cancelled. Kendra officially cancelled my account on the 2nd of July, 2014, and since I never officially used the program's services, I asked her for a time-frame on the refund of $198, and she told me 60-90 days. I have been calling on and off for over a year,and it's the same old answer every time from both the reps and the manager - It's still processing, and they tell me that there is nothing they can do, because it's in the hands of a separate billing partner, of course they won't give me that number to deal with them directly, they just keep telling me that they send them notices to get it expedited and they will call me back or email me to give me updates, but they never have, ever! I have kept all of my emails with them since the beginning. I just want my $198 back, that all, and it's been almost a year and a half.
