Lets pretend your name is Linda Johnson. In the USA, how many other Linda Johnson's do you think their are? Thousands. An insurance company uses your SSN to help identify which Linda Johnson you are exactly. Most insurance companies (except metlife) do not put SSNs on anything other than claims forms (due to finances being handed to someone in the time of a claim) and applications (needed to identify you). You signed the section of your life applications that said American Family can obtain and exchange information with your doctor....so AmFam or Aflac was allowed to do so. Question for you: Why are you having claims forms for life insurane sent to you if you are still alive?
