AJRichie.com Bait and Switch Kings New York
Purchased a camcorder online. Received a confirmation email right away. Later that same day I received another email stating:
"For your security we need to verify your order, please call us at 1-614-556-4559, ext. 0 to provide a verbal confirmation so that we can ship out your product. If we do not hear from you this order will not be able to be processed."
I called to give my "verbal confirmation" and was asked if I'd rather have a different but similar model of camcorder. When I told them "no" they said they no longer had the model I ordered earlier that day online.
I asked how I was able to purchase this product if it was no longer available and why they were still advertising its availability. They had no answer. I immediately cancelled my order.
Obviously a "bait and switch" operation going on there at AJRichie.com.
Did a little research afterward and found that I was not the only person this has happened to from this retailer.
I have now written my complaints on 2 different online retailer review sites and in addtion filed a formal complaint with the New York BBB. Since my credit card had not been charged and I was not entitled to remuneration the BBB has sent my complaint to the retailer and officially closed my complaint.
Interestingly, the other reviews of AJRichie.com show many other complaints in addition to "bait and switch". Some complained of receiving refurbished products that were advertised new and some complained of being promised certain shipping options only to refuse later unless the consumer bought additional items.
Buyer beware with AJRichie.com !!
