I remember Albertsons back in the days when they were called Skaggs Albertsons. Up until I graduated from high school in the 80's it was still an ok store, and then by the late 80's the store started to suck in selection, prices, etc. By the 90's I had relocated to another state and worked for a company that did business with Albertsons in the way of inventory services. That company had the worst management with bad attitudes. They came plowing their way into the Houston, Texas grocery market, put a few good stores out of business, opened a distribution center that would not pay anyone over 9.00 an hour and then decided to close up shop within 7 years of being here because they were not the # 1 grocery store. I heard they did not even give severance pay to the employees at the distribution center. Basically to sum it up, I would never work for them, and I sure would not shop there either. TEll your hubby to find a job with a competing supermarket and then he can tell Albertsons to kiss off!

Your criticisms about Albertsons are unfair, in my opinion. It is sad that your spouse was the victim of a robbery but Albertsons is not to blame. How about the person the robbed the store? You seem angrier at Albertsons than at the robber. So your spouse got three days off. That's fantastic. I'm not sure why he would need more time. If you had a doctors note stating more recovery time, than Albertsons, or the manager of that store could not even have an opinion and would be forced to give him the additional time. As for moving your spouse to earlier shifts: why? So someone else can be at risk for robbery? If your spouse has more seniority in the company than he or she would get earlier or better shifts. Albertsons is not a baby-sitting service or a law enforcement agency. Even if there was a security guard there, what is that person going to do. They aren't armed and quite often, aren't even physical capable of stopping even a child from shoplifting and besides, your spouse and security personell are trained to give the robber the money. There is no blame on your spouse. He was a victim, but Albertsons in not at fault either. Unfortunately, your spouse works in an area that has high crime in an industry that attracts crime. If he were to drive across the San Mateo bridge and work at a store on that side of the bay, then he would be less likely to get robbed, but even then, robberies happen there too.

The police took the video survalance tapes and reviewed them. I guess they saw that one of the men had a gun. We were told it was not the man who attacked my fiance. The police also told us that they could not identify the suspects because they had their heads down, both had on big puffy jackets with the hoods pulled over their heads. I also would like to know why my fiance has to pay back dues to the union. Right now we are in the process of trying to get a meeting with my fiances Union rep.

Where is the union in all of this and why arent they involved? (And I really would like to know WHY you would have to pay back dues for time prior to joining the union?!) His union rep should be the one requesting the additional time off, thats what a union is (or at least supposed to be), representation. And just curious, if the suspects were never caught, how do the police know there was a gun?

I hope he has already filed a worker's compensation claim for the medical care, couseling, and missed work. He should get a doctor to verify what he needs and how long he needs to be off work. Take them to court if you must. My brother went through this and won.
