Dear Concerned,
I have never heard anything more rediculous regarding this complaint. Thank God there are two sides to each and every STORY teller. This is simply not valid and as far from the truth as one can possibly get. Each and every call is recorded and or monitored to prevent such slander as this. We are a collection agency as you have stated and yes we are not the most popular people. This industry gives us a chance to meet and speak with the most interesting people and we hear the most interesting things to which some are true and most are not. We treat each and every customer with professionalism and try and work with those who actually need our help. We have access to numerous things that can tell the story before we actually get the consumer on the line. If a consumer can resolve their financial issue's we can see it even though they are telling us different. Most times we will have a consumer tell us that they are not able to pay but yet we see that they just bought a home, car, RV, or some other none necessity and that they do have credit available to pay. Please remember that any agency may have an older credit report that shows limits available and since you have actually used. Please remember that we are doing a service to the lender, the economy, and ourselves as this is our job. Hiding from responsibility and placing blame on others only makes matters worse and resolves nothing. I wish you the best of luck and I hope this helps in some way. Sorry for your misfortunes I know how you feel.

I am a former employee worked there just long enough to realize how much a scam this place was. First off they contact you and give you the impression.....no actually they tell you outright that a lawsuit has been filed. Wehn you ask them what they're talking about they ask someone named "Betty" to grab the legal file. There is no "Betty" there is no legal file because no lawsuit has been filed, simply a scare tactic. They continue to have you verify personal information, poe address assets etc; They claim the only way to stop this lawsuit is to pay the balance in full, then they pull your cbr and tell you what cards you have available to pay. As mentioned in the story above they are often mistaken in their analysis of the credit report. I started to ask questions about the practices because I knew it was all illegal per FTC and FDCPA laws and was subsequently let go. This Jennifer rep that was mentioned in the story is friend of the owner of the company and is indeed a very rude and bitter individual. I have worked for legitimate law firms and agencies and this Alternative recovery mngmt is deifinitely not one. I hope the owner gets whats coming to him.

1st of all, "mike from buffalo", all you have to do is google the company she is complaining about & there are several sites that give the address & phone number to reach them. When i contacted the company, i asked what their address was to send a letter to them, without asking anything about who i was or what account i was calling about i was given the address. So i dont know what you mean by "meet in person" but they arent part of the mafia, its not like they need to meet at some cheesy italian pizza place to make a payment on your bill. You make it sound like collectors are just ghosts that just call you out of the blue & wont give you any info. I'm sorry that you think we are "scum" but i am guessing that emotion you have comes from a deep-seeded issue you had with some collector. In fact, more then likely you probably have lots of unpaid debt & thats probably why you have such a bad outlook becuase collectors are calling your phone annoying you to be responsible & pay your bills. Granted there are collectors in every industry at every level who arent always the easiest to deal with & not all the time are you going to get a collector that only cares about customer service results, they are here to make a paycheck just like anyone else. Our job is to recoop lost revenue for our clients because arrangements were not made prior to the account being placed at an agency. So yes, although sometimes not necessary, collectors are sometimes rude when trying to collect a bill. So i am sorry that you happened to be someone who dealt with a rude collector. "2.)she tells me i will be served with papers from their attorney (basically some attorney they buy the right to use their name from that they dont work with at all in the "serving papers sense" (so dont be alarmed by this jubmo mumbo)"...... this "mumbo jumbo" you talk of can actually be a lawsuit waiting to happen..... if a collector gets a personal vendetta against a rude consumer they may be more addament about getting authorization from the client to sue that consumer, or informing their client of unknown assets or a new job that they may not have been aware of before. While that may not always benefit the collector financially, it is satisfying to have a judge enforce something the collector cant. Also a lot of the times when that happens, the bank or creditor will send the account back to the same agency after a judgement is obtained, which means you will have to deal with the same people only now they have a "writ of execution" to use for obtaining liens or placing garnishments.

"" i can thank god that i have the education and ability to not have to settle for work like that!"" I would suggest you take an EN-110 class. Your grammer, sentence structure, and word usage skills need significant improvement. As to your debt collector issues: I suggest you visit the FTC website, www.ftc.gov and download the following federal laws: Fair Debt Collection Practices Act - learn what debt collectors can and cannot do and what to do when they commit violations of this act. Fair Debt Reporting Act - learn what can and cannot be on credit reports about you and how to have credit reports corrected. Fair Credit Billing Act. - learn about what you can and cannot be charged as well as what disclosures creditors must provide you. You should also download the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Since your in CA, this law might help you. This CA statute applies the restrictions imposed by the federal FDCPA, on debt collectors, to CREDITORS in CA.

Just remember one thing. When you don't pay your bills you must suffer the embarassement of dealing with people calling you to collect.. They are not lying to you! deal with it and pay your bills... people like you make us collectors "sick"... Quit being the victim and either give your teeth back or pay up...
