Allan,
I'll have to buy an answering machine, but I've wanted to do this anyway. We have Voice Mail, and I'm tired of dialing numbers and entering passwords to retrieve messages. Our Caller ID isn't much help, because Alyon's number appears as an "Out-Of-Area" call.
For those who already have answering machines, RECORD some of these conversations with Alyon. As Allan said, let them know you are recording and that you have a legal right to do so. They'll either talk to you in a decent manner or hang up. If they are rude, send the tape to the Attorney Generals.
How many businesses include on the FIRST BILL, "Payment in full must be received by the due date listed below. Failure to pay the amount may result in your account being forwarded to a collection agency, at which time all means legal and proper may be utilized to recover the amount due"? You have 10 days to pay the bill.
How many businesses send you a three-page letter explaining how and why you received a bill from them?
I don't know of ANY CASE (other than the PAC-MAN game) where Alyon Technologies dropped the charges. Even in this case, Alyon still didn't claim THEY were at fault. Alyon's CEO (Stephane Touboul, the one who always declines an on camera interview) blamed a "maverick programmer for including the PAC-MAN game along with the rest of Alyon's premium priced offerings." Alyon wouldn't have dropped these charges if WSBTV hadn't exposed the case.
To my knowledge, Alyon has NEVER said, "We could have made a mistake. We'll look into this matter." It's always just the opposite, "Someone in your household AGREED to download our dialer and ACCEPTED our terms of our services, or you would not have received the bill."
For victims who have DOCUMENTED PROOF they weren't home at the alleged time of viewing this trash, Alyon has been known to say, "Someone must have broken into your house while you were away. You should call the police." Is this ridiculous or what?
Most HONEST businesses will at least hear you out to see if they possibly billed in error. Not so with Alyon Technologies, they don't even give you a chance to explain. As a matter of fact, they don't want to hear ANYTHING you have to say. When they answer the phone, they are automatically DEFENSIVE. This tells you THEY KNOW they are a (censored) business.
Alyon Technologies has NEVER been wrong, not even ONCE.
Thank You for this web site Rip-Off Report!

Some things you can do:
Use caller ID. Keep Alyon's 800# handy, be suspicious of any call identified with a New Jersey area code.
Check your answering machine manual and know where the "tape conversation" Button is. If they call you or you are asked to phone them, advise that you will be taping the conversation. If they ask you to stop tell them you have the legal right to do so, than wait. They can either hang up or continue. If they are rude or harrassing send a copy of the tape to the Attorney General.

In the WSBTV story, Detective David Cheek stated, "I have not been able to recreate ANY of the claims as filed by these people." Reporter Jim Strickland said, "Detective Cheek launched an investigation on Alyon Technologies, but COULD NOT get Alyon's dialer to launch ON HIS COMPUTER." Minutes later, Detective Cheek stated, "THERE IT IS. IT DOWNLOADED TWO MINUTES AGO."
AMY, how could Alyon's dialer HAVE ALREADY BEEN INSTALLED on Detective Cheek's computer from his prior investigation, when he PLAINLY STATED, "IT DOWNLOADED TWO MINUTES AGO"?'
MORE LIES; MORE DECEPTION FROM THIS COMPANY.
Alyon Technologies was ORDERED TO CEASE using Detective Cheek's report on March 11, 2003. If they have used this report since March 11, 2003, they are in direct violation and the Gwinnett County PD should be notified.
I know Walter-from Rome, New York contacted Major Michael O'Connell (Commander, Gwinnett County PD's Professional Standards Unit) concerning this matter.

The way I remenber the TV show, Consumer Reporter Strickland went to Cheek's computer WHERE THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANYTHING ILLEGALLY DOWNLOADED ON THE SCREEN, causually clicked onto the pop-and instantly got the spyware and other material.
Further, Alyon is distributing Cheek's report that indicates the detective was UNABLE to download anything illegal. Now they are saying it was there all the time. Duh.
