American Express Publishing Company American Express Deceptive Advertising - Unwanted Charges to Credit Card , Internet
I noticed charges for $89.00 and $129.95 on my American Express credit card for "AEPC Member Services, T and L Golf Player Club" and "AEPC Member Services, SG Exec Services". When I called AmEx Customer Service, I was told that there was an automatic charge placed on my card for these services, since I did not decline them.
I would have had to respond to the "JUNK MAIL" letter, and decline the services, in order to not be billed. It is my practice to simply throw away, before reading, any mail that looks like junk mail. The fact that you have to respond to a communication to stop a charge like this in unconscionable...I could have easily overlooked it. I suspect a vast majority of AE credit card customers do just that.
I always thought American Express was a more professional organization, but no more. AMERICAN EXPRESS, you should be ashamed for allowing deceptive advertising to be included in the credit card statement mailing.
I was told that the charge would be removed by the next billing cycle, but it leaves a very negative image about American Express in my mind. The little money they tried to deceptively extracted from me is definetly not worth the negative image I now have of them.

I don't doubt this individual may have had a problem with AMX but I find it odd.
I've had AMX credit card since August, 1968, then in 1980 I changed to a Gold card. I still have a Gold Card.
I am very often offered a Platnum but I don't need the extra services and not needing them I don't accept due to the cost.
In all the time I've had AMX I have never lost one dime to fraud. As a matter of fact I have lost money in fraud to every card I ever have had or have "except AMX."
You want to see rip off just give a try to Discover! In my opinion the worst of the worst.
Nuff I'm not here to run them down. I took care of them, I don't use them and any time says something about them I put in my two cents worth if allowed. I bet you can guess whether I say good or bad things about them.
Hope you and AMX get things straight.
I carry a MC and a Discover just to cover emergencies when I need gas etc and they don't take AMX.
I then never stop or cause myself to stop at a place that does not take AMX.
I use Ebay and PayPal a lot. Always AMX only.
I pay all my bills with AMX only except for those who won't take it and I attempt to find other sources for my needs that will take AMX.
