Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I Ordered furniture on a certain date and they did not have it when I went to pick it up today and didn't know when it would be in and wanted me to take something else.

When I requested my money back they refused and even talked down to me and tried to belittle me. They wanted to give me an instore credit. Determined to get my money back and will never even buy a cushion from this company. I will tell 1000+ people not to patronize this company.

Presently, reporting incident to BBB, local TV stations, newspapers, and plan to even picket out front.

Jerry Didn't Want To Be Satisfied...

I'm not affiliated with American Freight, but as an employee of a furniture consolidator, I know a little about the furniture industry. There are only two complaints that have been lodged against the Chattanooga store in the past three years, and one was resolved to the customer's satisfaction, and in the other instance of complaint, the BBB ruled that American Freight had done everything it could to satisfy the customer, but that customer refused to be reasonable and they closed the case. That must be "Jerry." When you order furniture, it can take weeks to get it from the manufacturer to the retail store. Why? Because trucks that transport furniture from the manufacturers must be filled with freight going to the same general area where your furniture is destined. Carriers that consolidate orders, and that serve furniture stores directly, pool your order with others that have been picked up at SEVERAL manufacturers. Most of the time it takes a few days to fill a truck going the same way. In a soft economy, it can take much longer, because people will put off purchasing all but the necessities in life. The bottom line is that no one is going to transport your one, two, or three piece order of furniture on an empty truck, nor can anyone estimate with any certainty when your order will be in. The store is just as eager as you are to get that furniture delivered to them, so that they can get it to you. Of course, if you really want it when you want it, you are free to pay the freight charges that it would cost to get it to you on an accelerated schedule. It's no problem at all to meet your demand, if you are willing to add a couple of grand to the cost of your furniture to purchase the empty space left on a truck after your pieces are on there. Furniture stores cannot predict sales volumes, nor do they know how many customers are going to buy certain pieces of furniture in a given month. American Freight operates a little differently than others, but keeping a consistent stock of furniture is still a total guessing game. If they run out of stock, it can take a while to replenish it. Even the furniture manufacturers these days do not keep a large inventory to ship out immediately. They operate much like auto manufacturers. They build furniture based on actual orders as they are received. If sames are good, your furniture may be built in a day, or maybe a week after the order is placed. Tell 1,000+ people whatever you desire. Draw you a picket sign or two. Shout to the heavens if it makes you feel any better. I'm not a person who is fazed in the slightest by such silly acts of protest, and I'm hardly alone. Some people simply are incapable of being pleased, no matter what. You are one of 300 million people in this nation, and you are no more or no less important that everyone else. Reasonable people understand that life does not always revolve around their whims, desires, or outright demands. They accept certain realities, and will patiently wait and snicker on the sidelines while people like you make complete fools out of yourself.

We have been serving the public for over 15 years, during which time we have focused on building a good name through great deals and even better customer service. I hope you do not let your experience reflect on the rest of our company. This is not the way we do business. We have general managers who look over all of our stores to make sure this sort of negligence does not happen. Next time just ask to speak with someone else. You cannot let the actions of an individual affect your views of an entire organization.
