Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My wife was going to get an oil change and a new fan belt installed at American Lube Fast, it used to be a Super Lube location and had changed names.

We had been doing business there for years.

She told the service manager that we were going on a trip and wanted a new fan belt and oil change done as a precaution.

They began servicing her car

The service manager came into the waiting room and told her that her engine was filthy because she driven to long before having it changed and if she did not pay for an engine flush her car might break down on her on our trip.

The car was not even due for its next oil change for another 1000+miles.

But because she had gone over the 3 thousand miles in the past she reluctantly agreed thinking maybe it was something she had done wrong.

Next they came back in and told her the antifreeze had broken down and that she had better have the damage repaired by having a costly radiator flush with a special machine done or her car most likely would over heat on our trip and leave us stranded.

I had just had a new radiator and new antifreeze installed just three months ago by one of the best mechanics in our town.

He was away on a trip and his shop was closed so she used American Fast Lube.

She called me on my cellphone and told me what was going on.

I rushed over just in time to stop them from hooking up the radiator flushing machine.

I watched the guy check the specific gravity of the overflow jug which he had diluted with fresh water first while I was in the waiting room talking to my wife. and then he tryed to convince me that he was a honest mechanic. When that failed he became rude and insulting and even told me I obviously did not know anything about engines.

In my younger years I was a Honda Certified Mechanic ( my family owned a Honda dealership) and I am a licensed Pilot.

Needless to say I told him what I thought about him and his deceitful business practices.

I stopped them from doing any more work and paid the $174.00 repair bill for the belt, oil change and rip off engine flush to keep from going to jail.

Why did I pay? You might ask.

Because if I stayed any longer I would not have been able to control myself.

NEVER EVER EVER ALLOW YOUR WIFE OR DAUGHTER OR SON OR YOURSELF TO GO TO THIS PLACE.

Unlike when it was Super Lube you cannot trust the mechanics now!

today was my first day on the job and my last! Ive worked many jobs in my life time including some very hard and dangerous jobs such as ( roofing, security in section 8 neighborhood gas stations in the projects at night with only one fire arm and no back up due to being in Prichard Al where the police response times even to shooting calls at that time was around 22 minutes!, used car lots with rip off type bosses with loud foul mouths due to being foreigners, walmart, lots of fast food joints, and temp services like labor ready which sent to me many job duties including a chemical container warehouse which had me alone one hot summer day with nobody around not even a superviser, loading up dangerous empty barrels which had some residue chemicals left inside to be removed which i had to breath in and touch! keep in mind im in the back of an eighteen wheeler trailer unloading the whole truck by myself with my hands! Hazardous situation and hot misarable job but i was young and toughed it out! also house framing etc) After saying all that i never had a job that didnt offer you any lunch break! whats even worst is we had no break at all! wait!! theres more... 8am to 6pm (do your math) thats 10 hours!

I worked a 10 hour shift for the first time in my life for a real corporation type company and nobody took not one break or any lunch at all! Its hot! Its summer time! cars and trucks are hot inside of a garage (even hotter downstairs in the pitt) and theres a (i guess so called training manager on duty) and no body mentions any water or food or break time! Wow. keep in mind all the jobs ive worked in the past, i never complain, this is my first review in my life! Ive even worked for a flourist company delivering flowers and it was manditory that we clocked out everyday for a 30 minute lunch regardless if we took one or not! Etiher way the time sheet automatically clocked you out and at that time i thought that was kinda crooked but atleast we had the option! Back to american lube fast, i agree with all the comments i've read on here and ive also witnessed many of the facts that were mentioned like regular employees being forcefull salesman and targeting old women, etc. Ive only worked this one full day and have so so so many stories to share! I was told to lie to a manager by a bigger manager to get the job! ( what kinda mobster stuff is that?) I didnt want to but i did being i didnt have time to think it out because as the information of the lie process was being told to me over the phone my response time was killed due to the manager that i was to repeat the lie to was beeping in on the other line!

So i did it thinking it was like a so called white-lie. I thought this would be a good job, a good learnig experience, and was willing to deal with the normal climate of the job like the heat, etc assuming surley we get a lunch or atleast a water break! True it was a coke machine inside the shop but no water! Only sodas like coke, dr. pepper ect. I cant drink dark drinks nor care for caffene and sprite was sold out! wow my luck, and the boss said we were not aloud to go into the customer waiting area which had a water fountain that was broke and didnt work anyway, plus i didnt discover that until 4pm that day. One old lady customer gave me not a cash tip but a religous church flyer and gave me several to give to all 4 employees. Seeing another employee earlier in the day recieve a cash tip from a customer i was sure this was ok and harmless being iam a christian and wasnt offended by the nice offer. I did as told from her and gave the boss the church flyers and he read them quitely for a few seconds then seemed to got mad and said "No", "we cant receive this", "give them back to here" and paused, took them and tossed them in the trash! Wow. I have a comment to share about that but may not be appropiate to mention here. I may open my own lube shop one day. I have the power and help from fellow friends and family business operators but i know one thing by working here today, I warn everyone from customers to employee's, STAY AWAY!!  Goto walmart lube or anywhere else but stay away from here!! Iam a local famous music song writer as well and think i might write a song about this one day and have my lawyer copyright it for me and if i get enough money off of it i will then open my own lube shop. Names?? Lube it Right or The Pit Stop oil change center, etc. Lol just a thought. hope you liked my post.

They pay their employees low wages and expect way to much. The 5 months I worked there I saw situations occur that weren't to different from the one you explain. This company has one concern only....SALES. This company strives that they're not like everyone else and no one who is employed there is a salesman. That is a flat out lie. Recently a Assistant Manager was going to be demoted and have his pay cut because he wasn't selling to their satisfaction. Regardless of whether or not he knows more about cars than 60% of the Managers employed with that company and was good with the customers. He wasn't selling enough. Why you ask? Because he wasn't about to offer a service to a customer unless he was sure they needed it. And if he did offer it he'd tell them if the companies prices weren't right for them to check out some other places. Needless to say he quit this morning, only to find out they're going to cut his pay down to minimum wage for his last check because he didn't give a two week notice. What a great way to run a business huh? The district manager of the Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Navarre stores once sent a e-mail to the stores under his "management" stating that if his bonus was affected by lack of sales then heads would roll. Like I said this company cares nothing for you or your vehicle. All they care about is your money and how to get a hold of it. I could go on for days with stories and situations that occurred during my employment there including the sleazy way I lost my job. Let's just say it revolved around me going to the hospital for a serious condition or keeping my job. I went to the hospital.

The area manager called and promised us he would take care of the problem several months ago. He also promised to send us a coupon for a free oil change. Someone I know just had the same sort of thing happen to his daughter at this American Fast Lube... BEWARE OF THIS PLACE.... The same guy still works there that ripped off my wife, I see him when I drive by. Also we never did get the free oil change card... Not that we would have used it. Consider yourself warned! Good luck

After I explained it was not the money but the misleading sales tactics that had upset me, he said he would try to stop them from using these sales tactics. I genuinely hope that really happens. I do appreciate your company's quick and concerned replies to my emails and wanted to let you know what had transpired. It does appear that perhaps this incident was a local incident and not due to corporate practices based upon our interactions. That does make me feel much better. Sincerely, Name withheld
