Americanvan Lines East.inc price gouging; taking advantage of a senior citizen Ripoff Tampa Florida
An estimate for a move was given verbally. The company did not measure goods prior to pickup. A professional packer who packs for senior citizens helkped my mother with her packing and gave me the exact number and size of items according to movers standards. I was given a quote of $1301 with $551 to be given at pickup and $551 upon delivery.
my mother is confused and easily rattled. She was alone because my brother was unable to arrive from VA on time for the movers in FL. I am disabled and unable to go. When they arrived they handed her a piece of paper with an illegible listing of items and told her the total was now $2033.00 and she had to give them $916.50 at that time and upon delivery. She had added an ironing board, folding cardtable and cleaning supplies. The charged$488.00 for packing materials which was only bubble wrap and tape and did not supply an itemized listing of that material. The packer previously paid for (independent of the company) had supplied all boxes in her fee of $300.00. When I called the company to discuss this they were argumentative, rude and didn't seem to care.
