I swear builders must have a book of excuses they all derive the same baloney from. "I thought the work was done..." They need to get some new material, it's starting to sound like a really worn out, bad, stand-up comedy routine. I don't know if the site host will allow it, but if they don't remove the link, go to Homeowners Against Deficient Dwellings, I hope this helps you. This site has a link to ripoff report on it's links page. The BBB didn't help me in my builder case, either. They lied to me about my builder not having "any complaints" on file when I researched before buying. Our state's attorney general was similarly ineffective. Our buidler and his warranty co just gave them excuses and they accepted it. It was during our own complaint process that I learned from our BBB and the state AG that neither make complaints public information, something they didn't bother to tell me when I was doing my research! In the meantime, our new house had so many things wrong with it, the repair estimates were $60,000 and growing. If it's any consolation, we did settle our case satisfactorily, but it took five years, a lot of hard work, and we had to fire a bad lawyer along the way. Like the owner of this site, my consumer problem made me angry and made me do something about this whole problem. I don't think I'll ever buy another new house after that experience, but I'm happy to share any links or info I have with anyone else in the same boat we were.

Katherine: The first thing that you need to do is have a certified home inspector take a look at the problems with your house. If it can be attributed to shoddy work or short cuts taken your next step will be to an attorney's office. Your contract was with the bulder from what you have siad here so they are responsible for all problems with the trades that they hired to do the work for your home. It will really help if you have the actual blue prints and shop drawings for your home's construction. Unfortunately, many builder's will not respond to complaints unless there is an attorney involved. You can also file a complaint with and builder associations that they may be affiliated with. Google thier name and see what you come up with. With these guys its all about pressure. The more you exert on them the better results you will have. Good luck
