Yes, do not talk to them, start a paper trail, put everything in writing. Only correspond with them in writing. Then find a consumer fraud attorney, search for the least expensive one in your area. My attorney is now "handling" Ameristar. Another good thing to do, print out everything from this website regarding this "company" and give to your attorney, this is evidence against them. Showing a pattern of ripping off consumers. Look at the previous postings, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Illinois Attorney General and your local Attorney General. These agencies need to receive as many complaints as necessary against this company, so they will have proof to investigate and loads of legitimate and similar complaints against them. Just know one letter speaks for hundreds and thousands of consumers who have been victimized. Also, once filing the complaints send copies of all correspondences sent or received to/from Ameristar. Make sure to send a cease communication letter to Ameristar, with copies to the above-mentioned agencies. Then save all messages from them after sending the cease letters. Document the names of who called and the time and dates. Most importantly don't be afraid of them. You cannot let them win and they can be defeated!

Bell, The first thing you ned to learn to do is to STAY OFF THE PHONE!! Always do everything in writing, and by cerified mail, return reciept requested. Ameristar are junk debt buyers. They are scammers, liars and thieves. Tru lowlife. Richard Wonderlic is the owner. I have posted all the dirt on them here on ROR. They have a history of this sort of thing. They buy a contract with only a few payments left and extend it for 6-12 months, plus fees. It sounds like you are partially at fault here for not sticking to your contract. It is irrelevant if they were not sending you statements. That is not a reason to stop paying. After all, you knew you only had 3 payments left, right? It sounds like you were already in default or had a history of late payments. That is why it went to collections or was sold in the first place. This is why it went on your credit report.
