DO NOT BUY OR USE ANDERSON WINDOWS!!!!
Their Vinyl Clad Windows are junk...The vinyl shrinks, the wood frames contract and shrink, They leak horribly after 5 years. I have mold growing on the interior frame of the upper double hungs.
This is a common problem if you check the internet. (Class actions suites have been filed in other states.)
***Condensation forms from the air leakage, mold grows..
The vinyl covering is l/64 thick or about the thickness of 2 sheets of paper!!! Vinyl shrinks, I have 1/4 inch gaps between the vinyl seams!!!!
Anderson will not replace the windows or vinyl strips. They may function great for the first 3 years...but at 200.00-400.00 dollors per window and 30 total in my house I cant afford to replace them.
Anderson will not honor their product ...DO NOT PURCHASE ANDERSON WINDOWS!!!
We built a home in 1994 and used 30...Anderson Windows through out. Vinyl coated over solid Wood with wood interior. The warranty is 10 yrs from purchase. About 2002 (6yrs later) we noticed the vinyl exteriors shrank almost 1/4 inch, exposing the wood frames. After contacting Anderson Corporate to enforce the warranty they sent us 1 tube of calk!!!
I tube of calk for 30 windows???? We contacted them again in 2004 asking to replace the windows since the calk shrank, and didnt protect the wood frames. Anderson window Corporation told us the warranty was for 10 years and had expired. But we could purchase the vinyl strips that covered the experiors for about 2.00 each. Each DOUBLE HUNG window has 8 strips--4 PER FRAME ...2X8 STRIPS @ 2.00, X 30 windows.. OH H311 NO.!!!!!! They stated in an email to me that the vinyl shrinkage is normal and that the wood is treated to prevent mold. B.S.
The distributor we used, in Michgan directed us to contact Corporate per the 800 number ...we did and also Emailed. Which we have proof of correspondence.
Well u will have to file a class action suite to get action, is what a builder told me... We used Flagstar subcontractor loan to purchase the windows.
