In the later part of 2011 we were approached through referral from one of our acquaintences by a door to door salesman selling Medicare Advantage health plans.  The salesman made it sound very attractive, though did not inform us that I was required to participate with pharmaceutical drug coverage both in the plan and before the plan when I was on Medicare.  I pay the medicare premiums and have opted to not participate in the drug coverage for nearly 8 years now.

Soon after agreeing to enroll in the Medicare Advantage supplemental plan I received a notice from Arcadian requesting further information to devulge the coverage for pharmaceutical coverage for the nearly 8 years prior to enrolling in their Advantage plan and if I could provided evidence that I had been paying for pharmaceutical drug coverage that I would be required to pay a penalty.  After speaking with a representative at Arcadian I was told that no matter what course I may take from then I would certainly be required to not only pay the penalty for not having pharmaceutical coverage for the 8 prior years that I must agree to be in the pharmaceutical plan with Arcadian as well.  I was very upset so I called the U.S. Government Medicare office and was told that since I had not be in the pharmaceutical drug coverage group prior to Arcadian there was no requirement at all to be in a pharmaceutical drug plan.   As a Medicare participant there is no requirement to be on pharmaceutical treatments at all.

I sent a cancellation order to Arcadian.  Arcadian now has sent me a form to fill out and return to them.  Arcadian continues to insist that I am required to request their permission to disenroll and is asking me to provide much information related to my relationship with Medicare and or other plans.   I am disclosing this matter as a warning to completely avoid Arcadian if you value your health and privacy.  That is unless you think that pharmaceutical medicine is the correct course of care.  To me Arcadian is attempting to force others to bow to big pharma.  As for me I maintain great health on a day to day personal care basis with healthful nutrition, good hiegene, and proper exercise.  I will never accept pharmaceutical nor street drugs.  A strong healthy body will not get disease.
