I hate to say this, but you need an attorney. If this debt is truly not yours and there was a police report on file and any company attempting to collect on this debt was aware of it, they need to have their doors closed. This is total garbage and the first responder knows this. Settling a debt that is NOT yours and was NEVER yours should never be an option. I'd say the ex employee is not an ex employee and doesn't bother to mention that this can be reported on your credit for years as a paid collection even if you DO settle a debt that does not belong to you.

HELLO Archtyvia, I HAVE COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS, AND QUESTIONS... FIRST, COLLECTIONS AGENCIES PURCHASE YOUR (CONTRACT) FROM THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR. WHAT THAT MEANS IS PER YOUR CONTRACT IS WHAT IS LAW. SUCH AS YOUR INTREST RATE... ALSO ACCTS CAN ONLY BE REPORTED FOR 7 YRS / BUT CAN BE COLLECTED ON FOR UP TO 10 YEARS. IF A JUDGEMENT IS FILED AGAINST YOU IT LAST FOR 10 YEARS, AND IS RENEWABLE.. IN THE FUTURE YOU NEED TO GET WHATEVER IS BEING STATED BY AND AGENCY OR REP. IN WRITING!!!!! THAT WAY IF SOMETHING COMES UP YOU HAVE PROOF THAT ISSUE HAD BEEN RESOLVED. I DONT KNOW WHEN YOU FIRST REALIZED THIS WAS FRAUD. BUT! SOMEONE DROPPED THE BALL AND NOW YOU ARE BEING PENALIZED. YOU MUST REALIZE THAT REP'S DEAL WITH HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE A DAY, AND HUMANS WILL MAKE MISTAKES, SO IT IS A MUST YOU GET AS MUCH INFO IN WRITING TO PROTECT YOUR SELF.. BECAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY ITS ONLY GOING TO AFFECT YOU. IT HAS BECOME A MUST THAT YOU KEEP THE MOST CURRENT DOCUMENT AVALIABLE ON ALL PAID, UNPAID, AND DISPUTED ACCOUNTS. AND IF POSSIBLE PULL YOUR CREDIT EVERY 6 MONTHS OR SIGN UP WITH ONE OF THE BIG THREE (EXPERIAN, EQUAFAX, OR TRANS UNION) ON LINE AND MONITOR IT. THAT WAY IF SOMETHING SHOWS UP ON YOUR REPORT YOU CAN ADDRESS IT. TRY CALLING THE ATTY AND SETTLE THE ACCOUT FOR 60% OF THE OWED BALANCE.......
