AT&T Universal Card ripoff raised interest rate to over 28 percent without notification outlandish ripoff late fees ripoff deception Sioux Falls South Dakota
I received an AT&T universal credit card over one year ago. At the time, it seemed reasonable. The interest rate was very low.
However, due to a move from Europe back to the usa,(we are americans) we encountered some glitches in our finances. Also the company my husband works for decided in December to just out of the blue take over 3000 from his monthly check for a tax differential. That in itself was sudden, and my husband did not find out about it until he received his paycheck. Needless to say, it sent our finances into a tailspin. We missed one payment on our AT&T universal credit card. The next month we made the payment up along with the regular monthly paymnet that was due at the time.
Well, all of a sudden the interest rate on the card jumped to over 28 percent! Now all of our monthly payment goes to the interest. And we were never informed by AT&T that the interest rate was being changed to such an outrageous percentage. The card is difficult to pay off right now as the total amount is over 8000 dollars. I think it unethical of this business to have changed the interest rate to such a high percentage and on top of that, not even bother to notify us of it. The interest rate is now 28.94 percent! Shouldn't there be congressional action taken on these credit card companies?????
