AT&T Worldnet Service thieves consumer rip-off fraud Hauppauge New York
I signed up for the "ATT Worldnet $7.00 /.07 Internet Plan" in 2000.
I cancelled in late 2000 before moving. They kept charging my account. Finally it stopped, money was refunded.
Now a $10.95 debit is showing up on our bank statement?
I have been trying to find a phone # or service dept. to
get this stoped and 2 months of refund.
(Interesting.........ATT home office has always been BUSY???)
How can I get rid of these Guys?

After getting Earthlink Cable Modem, I had to cancel our Worldnet service. When I ran a search on where to find out how to cancel, up popped the Rip-Off Report. :-) After reading the reports, I was glad we changed ISPs. I found the link to cancel service w/AT&T and did so online. When I got a confirmation number, you can bet I saved it in a file just "in case". Also on that page was the customer service number for cancellation: 1-800-400-1447. I went through the menu options and spoke with Graham to verify that the account was indeed closed - he verified that it was. Needless to say, I'm still watching my Amex statement. :-) Funny thing though, Graham told me it was "smart" of me to actually follow up by phone. Hmmmmmm. My best advice is to never ever ever give a debit card/check card number for anything online. If one doesn't have or can't get a credit card, then think about prepay plans. Vendors LOVE to rip off consumers using the fine print to bleed your checking account dry. At least if it is put on a credit card, you have the option of disputing the charges. If you don't receive the service, the credit card company can not charge you for them and must hold the interest in abeyance until the dispute is resolved. Hope that helps. :-)
