I hate BTF! I signed up 2 years ago. I went there maybe for about 6 months and i hated it! the facility was nasty and the reps were as well. the bathrooms were dirty and they smelled like cigarette smoke. I called them to find out how can i cancel and they said that I can't because I'm under a 3 year contract. I think that I should be able to pay some kind of a fee and be able to cancel. It's no fun having to pay $57 to bally for 3 years! The worst thing is that the rep told me that i could cancel anytime! when i told them that i want to talk to him the rep told me that he was moved and they don't know to which btf...bullcrap. I just want to cancel! please tell me if you have any suggestions on what should i do.

Been there, done that... deception was involved

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mon, January 31, 2005

When I still lived in San Diego I signed up for Bally's "Buy one get one free" deal for my partner and I. This offer was posted all over the gym and surrounding shopping center as a "Holiday Season Offer" I decided to buy myself a mbrshp and give my partner the other as a gift. Needless to say there is no such thing as something free and deception was involved. My partner had to go to Australia two days before Christmas due to an emergency, I had already signed my contract, got my card etc. When he came back a week later I took him down to BTF to get his "free" membership. The manager "Dezz" who in fact SOLD me the mbrshp said "Sorry dude, you needed to have him come in for the ID within 7 days to get the free mbrshp" I asked what could I do to be sure I received what I expected out of the deal and what was blatantly advertised all over the mall. "Nothing" Dezz said, it says it here on the back of the offer" Sure enough in font size 2 or something it said so. I wondered why he didnt mention it to me while I was there signing up then I realized sometimes its what they DON'T say rather than what they do. I remember clearly how he never let me hold the document only breezing through all the benefits and stressing the "free" 2nd membership. It turned out anyway the free 2nd membership was only valid T,TH, Sat or M,W,F so we probably couldn't have worked out together anyway. Before any idiots start posting "read the fine print" nonsense I just wanted to note that I am not sure when the tide turned from customer service, to slice their throats and run, consumers are being taken for a ride by BTF as even the BBB has stacks of impotent reports on them. Anyway I ended up signing up my partner for his own mbrshp and we worked out for 6 months got fit, cashed in on all their personal training, free vitamins, free health shakes, free work-out gear then defaulted on the 2 year payments before immigrating overseas, damned if they were getting their money. Anyway karma got them bad, a state of the art L.A.Fitness opened across the street from them, last I heard they were struggling to pay the trainers.
