Mr. Humphreys owner of Bama Home Improvements appears not be a licensed business in violation of Dept. of revenue laws. Based on queries to the Alabama Dept. of Revenue and the Board of Licensing Contractors, Bama Home Improvements and /or Jesse Humphrys does not posess a license as a Gen. Contractor or Licensed Home Builder, and is likely in violation of state law.

In Alabama, all businesses must be licensed and any contractor with contracts over $10K must be licensed with the Home Builders Licensing Board. Mr. Humphreys did a windows job for us about a year ago and was competitive and did good quality work. I called him with an emergency job (I thought) to repair a door that was settling due to a rotten joist.  The repair he did did not meet constuction code, he did not finish the job, and charged me a ridiculous price.  I have photos he took of the job.

I had to hire another contractor to finish the job, when I short paid him by the amount of other contractors cost to complete the job, he threated to got to my daugthers house and rip out his work. I should sue him but decided that it isn't worth it.  He has no licencse and he can't be trusted to do the right thing.  He lacks in integrity and will screw you if he gets a chance, which is what happened to me, he did one job well, and took advantage of a situation when he could.

Repair band under front door.

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

I'v worked for Paul Mcdonald a few times and never had one problem with you until now, I gave Paul a price for repairing a band under his daughters front door for $1684.00. Paul told me it was a little high so I told you to get a few more price before he committ. Paul stated it was fine to just get it done and he knew it would be right since I've done previous work before. I do my job raise the front door floor up, install a new double band treated wood because the front porch step push water right under the front door which causes it to rot out. I'm not a masonary; Im a carpenter. I did my job that was agreed to as followed replace the band under the front door. When I finished the job I tried to make contact with Paul since he lives out of town with no answer for two weeks when I get a check for $1000.00 thats $600.00 less than agreed to. I finally was able to get ahold of Paul and stated that he felt the job done was worth just $1000.00 casue I had to pay some one else to fix your work. They add two post under my beam for no reson, the beam is only 5 feet wide and notch out to sit on each wall, there is no need to add suport under a beam that is seating on a brick wall. Paul paid that guy $600.00 dollars for two post that did not need to be there. I put the house back like it was and this man says its wrong. I did everything Paul had agreed with and now he started off by saying it was too high of a price then when I get the job done up to standard and code he wanted to say i charged him to much and got another guy out to add additional support that didn't need. I have way to many happy customers and will reference upon my work as I did and do a great job everytime I work on any customers house.
