I first started to receive phone calls requesting payment for ambulance services I never used. It was for transport to a hospital over an hour away from where I live. Never went to that hospital - and never used the ambulance service to that hospital or any other. I explained this to caller. Didn't matter - continually called back all times of the day and night. We stopped answering calls from the 1-800-697-1234 number. They would never leave message - just hang up.

After several calls - I did call back and spoke to a representative. Explained that they were harassing me and my family. That I had never used the ambulance and if I received any more calls I was going to report them to our State's Attorney General. The phone calls stopped. However, today I received a threatening letter saying they are are going to file a negative credit report.

These people are impossible.

I went on line and googled 1-800-697-1234. There is a website www.800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-697-1234. Just terrible! Seems like a whole scam to get people to pay money they don't owe.

Going to take the next step and report to the State of CT's consumer protection people.

Jack, I am having a similar situation with Bay Area Credit Services and was wondering if you could help me out with a little information if you don't mind. My Ripoff Report complaint number is 429156. Please read it if you have the time. I was interested if American Medical Response was the ambulance service that Bay Area Credit Services said you used? What I am trying to see if there is a pattern between Bay Area Credit Services and American Medical Response. Besides yours and mine, there are three other complaints registered against Bay Area Credit Services that have an ambulance service involved. I am trying to find out if there is a pattern to rip off people between these two companies. I am seriously considering suing Bay Area Credit Services (and American Medical Response if they are involved) in Small Claims Court if I can prove illegal collection practices. I just can't let these people get away with extortion, harassment and their threats. I hope you can help me. Thanks, Keith r., Fletcher, NC

YOU have to make them go away yourself.

www.budhibbs.com or www.ftc.gov YOU HAVE RIGHTS - You need to learn that there are laws collection agencies have to follow and what YOU HAVE TO DO YOURSELF! They cannot demand you pay without validating the debt - however you have things you must do in order to make them stop or they will never go away.
