BB&T New ways to make money on OVERDRAFT charges Ripoff Hull Georgia
I have recently been charged $105.00 in overdraft fees because the bank policy changed without any notifications. It is apparently legal for them to move your deductions in their favor. If you have 5 items that are small amounts and you still have enough money in your account to cover them on that date, they can move the 6th item to overdraw your account and cause the remaining items to overdraw your account and then post your deposit.
They can have up to 3 business days to post a deposit, but the debits come out immediately no matter what. I am closing my account once all items are clear. I have already stopped my direct deposits. I found out that if I am either a resident or employee in Clarke County I can use the local credit union. They truly offer up to $500 in overdraft protection. No cut-off time on deposits either. I suggest everyone start searching for institutions that offer better protection for the consumer and not the corporations CEO wallets! If nothing else, go to cash, use money orders or prepaid credit cards....Anything is better than the overdraft charges and policies that banks are putting into action to make more money.
