I had received a post card in the mail, telling me I had been nominated to be in Who's Who Professional Registry. I have never responded to one of these before and this time thought..what the heck.

Well, I just got off the phone with a Biltmore rep (wish I had written down his name). He called to "interview" me, to see if I was qualified to be chosen for their Exclusive Registry of professionals.

What a smooth talker. He asked me questions about my profession, how I got started, what organizations I belonged to, praising me the whole time. He then told me how prestigious it is to be chosen for this registry. Senators, Presidents of companies are in it, etc and that it would be a pleasure to have me in this group of distinguished professionals. He formally accepted me and then the sales pitch started. He first tried to sell me the Platinum edition, which costs ONLY $700 and something dollars and what I would get for joining this lifetime level, plus all the bonus gifts... 2 free airline tickets, etc.

At this point, I knew what the purpose of this call was and told him I wasn't interested. He then gave me the next level of membership, $500+ and when I said I wasn't going to pay anything, tried to sell me a 2 yr. trial membership for $199. He was even going to throw in the 2 airline tickets! When I said "no", he became very defensive and said EVERYONE buys the membership and commented that people Thank him for him accepting them in the membership. When I told him I was thankful and commented that the card I returned stated that there was "no obligation" to be included in the registry, he became even more rude. He then told me that he was removing me from the "accepted list"!! Oh, how sad for me!! I then said, Oh, because I didn't buy anything you are going to remove me from the registry". He stated "yes" and I said "goodbye" and hung up.

I immediately began searching the internet for scams reported from this company and found this website. I can not believe these people are getting away with this! Don't fall for their words of praise and compliments! They are a fraud. Thankfully, I knew better than to give my credit card info.

I read all of these complaints & Im sorry that soo many people have had the feeling that they are getting scammed, but like any National networking organization there is a membership fee & they let you know that if all you want is the Honorary Mention like the Whos Who Among American High School Students its free, but like that whos who there is NO way to get to know or network with anyone in it! I met the Executive Director of the Meals on Wheels in S.E.Florida through Biltmore & as the V.P. of the Elks I threw them a Luau last year where part of the proceeds went to their organization & I plan on doing it again this year & inviting the other people Ive met thru Biltmore to come have fun and KNOW that the money will be going to a good cause. Sounds to me that most of these people dont belong to any organizations where you have to pay dues???? Just sayin

you should look into the fact that you were "taken off the list" because regardless if you buy anything or not you are entitled to a basic listing. If they did not give this to you, they are in violation of the law, because like you stated, the is no obligation or cost for qualified individuals to be listed. In order to print that on their letter, they must give you your free listing if you choose not to purchase, which, by the way, was a great decision.
