In December of 2011, I found myself in need of new vehicle. My credit wasn’t the best, and Scottsdale Chapman Hyundai was one of the only dealerships that took that into consideration in addition to providing good customer service and a good use of my time.

What they didn’t disclose is that the finance company that they worked so hard to connect me with and who was willing to give me a chance to ‘rebuild’ my credit reputation was one in the same.

C.A.G is an acronym for Chapman Auto Group.  It is beyond me to understand why in the world the dealership talked about them as if they were a third party and casually told me that this mysterious entity required them to put a GPS devise on the car that would allow them not only to find the car if necessary, but also allowed them to disable the car if a payment was late.

It was bad enough that I paid almost $13, 000 for a 2005 Dodge Stratus, let alone they rigged the starter so that any and everyone that I ever let get into my car, including valet, had to know that I had to get clearance from C.A.G. to start even start the ignition, and that big brother was always watching. They installed the devise before I left the dealership but didn’t give me the remote until almost six months later and I had to call the general manager in order to make them give it to me.

There were days that they wouldn’t even answer the phone and take my money. There were times I paid and I didn’t know if my car was going to cut be cut off because they didn’t process it or what. Every payday, my car started with a warning alarm that if I didn’t pay they were going to cut the car off even if I paid already.

Please don’t purchase a car from these people, they are like car pimps. All they want is their money by any means necessary.  They could give a d**n about you. They don't report to the credit agencies like other dealerships do so this will not make your credit any better until the vehicle is paid off. It doesn't show a history of paying on time or even how many payments you make, but the credit manager will lie to you and say that they will.

They charge a fee for everything, including trying to make payments to them. Considering, if things don't go right, your car won't start, you would think they would be more gracious about taking a payment over the telephone.  They don't....

I'm a little confused - how is he responsible for their rude behavior?  Regardless of his history, how does that factor in?

I've had loan with these people for over a year and I had much the same experience.  I had no choice but to have the same gps device placed on my car - it's called a Passtime device.  And no, it's NOT because I am a serial deadbeat - contrary to what seems to be popular opinion on this forum, they do put it on for any "credit" issue.

In my case I was hit by a car, couldn't work, and racked up medical bills I had no way of paying.  They could see this, as the name of the creditors was in the credit report they printed out and showed me.  I'm not entirely sure WHY they showed me, I told them all of this beforehand.  I knew they would run a credit check, however they, for no reason I could fathom, decided to show me this information that I had already told them.

In any case, I was taken through their financing process, wherein they spoke to me like I was a jibbering idiot with no grasp on even the most basic concepts - not just the loan process, but literally every aspect of the loan.  The finance manager was literally the most rude, condescending person I've ever spoken to in my entire life.  I mean that - I have never in my life spoken to another human being that rude, crass, and insulting.  Like the other person filing a complaint on this site, I did not have many options, so I decided to stick with them.

These other people can call him a liar all they want.  I'm not entirely sure what their motivation would be in doing so, or how they can call the entire complaint an outright lie, having no evidence to the contrary, but this is beside the point.

My main point is that everything I've experienced with this company more or less lines up with what he's saying.  They've been rude from day one.  They charge ever increasing fees for simply paying them - the ONLY method of paying them without a fee is to drive down to Mesa and hand them the cash.  There was no aspect of the loan contract wherein they stated they could add or increase fees whenever they felt like it with no warning and no explanation.  There is a fee for paying via the phone as well as one for paying online, both of which have increased within a year.

In addition to the issues I've had with them, I've also now begun to get calls if my payment is even a single day late.  This wouldn't be so much of an issue, were it not for the fact that if I'm not able to answer they will start harassing my references.  These people have asked again and again to be removed from their call list.  They've been ignored every time.  One person was called TEN TIMES in a single day.  This is harassment - there is no excuse for it, it's against the law and they bank on references getting upset.  This is what I would assume the other person means when he says "Any means necessary".  They're rude, they lie constantly and/or make things up whenever I have an issue or need something changed - and god forbid you DO need something changed - be prepared to wait for six months for them to anything involving changes to your account.

I'm with the other person, avoid these people at all costs.  I've regretted every moment of this arrangement - it is absolutely not worth it getting a car from these people, and the level of harassment both my references and I have been subject to is CRIMINAL.

It is all about Honesty..which you are severly lacking.  You are lacking honesty and any integrity by trying to change reality.  Your original report had you having credit issues and this was one of the only places that would even consider you.  Then all of the sudden you had 3 car loans with no late payments and you didn't need to go there and could have done better someplace else.  Sorry..nice try but did you think people would just ignore what you previously wrote?

Okay so why didn't you go someplace else?  The answer is simple..you are outright LYING in your Update.  In fact not only was this dealer one of the few that would even consider you, it was probably the only one who would.

Now, we get onto your next lie.  There is no way you were the #2 collector in an Auto Finance company..well unless that company only had 2 people in your department.  I have doubts that you even worked as a Debt Collector at all.

Don't even try to get us to believe that you were the nicest person on the phone and because of that the people were just throwing money at you.   If you really want us to believe that everyone that gave you a sob story , you "let off" and told them it was okay to pay what ever they could and they would be okay..then how about giving us the name of this very generous finance company.

I can guarantee you that if your method of being so nice and understanding truly made you #2, that the company would have taken notice and required that of all of it's employees.  But I can guarantee that won't be the case because what ever company you give us, we can find many reports of how your company was the rudest and most "unfair" people they have ever dealt with...sound familar?

Oh and as for another lie of yours..."All they want is their money by any means necessary".  Oh really?  Any means?  So I guess murder isn't out of the question for them..or perhaps you can tell us how many times they sent out their "enforcers" to break your legs if you didn't pay them.

You see all you have shown is that like the other poster said, you are a serial deadbeat who want's to blame every one else for their problems.  Then when things don't go their way they just think they can out of the blue change legal agreements they made.

Oh and no I do not now or ever have worked for any fianance company or dealer.

This IS a deadbeat lender and their site implies they DON'T put GPS on ALL cars.  If you really paid a higher interest rate and had a GPS unit put on your car...you were/are a DEADBEAT, AND r-e-a-l-l-y STUPID!  You're catching yourself in your own lies.

"My credit wasn’t the best"  Remember this?  You should, YOU posted it. Serial DEADBEAT and Serial LIAR.

Nope, I don't work for CAG or any of the over 50 companies I've veen accused of working for. Gotta love the DEADBEAT, eintitlement mentality.

" Every payday, my car started with a warning alarm that if I didn’t pay they were going to cut the car off even if I paid already."

You want us to believe you willingly went with this lender, but could have gone with anyone else...right?  Get real.

What again, was the Ripoff?

You're too much.  I'm laughing my a** off at your "explanations" of how they're taking advantage of poor little old you..LIAR.

That's not true, my previous three vehicles were paid off in full with no late payments. This place puts a device on EVERY car. I could have gotten a better deal, better financing, etc.  Some people aren't aware and I am just warning those who don't HAVE to, not to use them.  Everyone who goes through a rough patch (job loss, illness, divorce) isn't a serial deadbeat either. I worked as a collector for a REAL auto finance company and I was #2 in the company and I didn't have to lock my client's cars down or browbeat them either. in six years I only had to repo once. Most people in a tough credit situation who opt to finance knowing they're getting shafted, don't do so for sport. They are in real NEED of a vehicle and work hard at keeping it. Hell even our government has crappy credit, but no one is putting LoJack on their spending....

Ken

Colorado,
Due to your demonstrated inability to maintain a good credit history is why this is happening..

They only install GPS disabler/locater devices for serial deadbeats.  YOU alone are responsible for ALL of this.

"All they want is their money by any means necessary."

And they know you will amost certainly, at some point, try to stiff them...YOU are also responsible for this.
