CAMCO ripoff, out-of-statute debt collector, harassment, Rockford Illinois
After being nailed on March 24, 2004 by the FTC for violating the terms of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, it seems CAMCO is still up to their old tricks.(http://www.ftc.gov/os/caselist/0223222/0223222camco.htm)
They have been calling me every day for a week harassing me after I have repeatedly told them to stop. They are also telling me that I "owe" and am obligated to pay a 12 year debt that an ex-girlfriend had charged on my credit card. Both of these are in strict violation of the FRCA.
Just a word to the wise: You can't be forced to pay a deliquent debt or have it show up on your credit report after the seven year statute of limitations is up.

Send a certified letter to them at:

Ask them to cease and desist in your letter and if they continue to harass you, you may be able to sue them in small claims court.
