Hi it is Texino, First, anyone who calls himself "Mr." is a loser, so you have the upper hand. All you have to do is say that you are disputing this charge, and you don't want to talk to them. Tell them if they want to contact you they can send you some mail and while they are at it tell them to send you a copy of this bill you supposedly owe. Then call equifax or whatever the name of the credit bureau is (you can find them on google) and follow the directions on placing a dispute. Once you do this, they have to determine if the debt is active or not. If it is not then your note will stay up. The chances are that your debt has been picked up by a predatory company who gets questionable information for very small money and then goes after people aggressively in order to scare someone into paying. It is dirty business but you live in the USA, the home of dirty business and stuff like this will happen from time to time. You should come out ahead though because the tactics these folks are using are on the edge and they know it. If you reply in a calm manner and follow through, you should be all right. One thing though, many people feel that after 7 years their debts go away. Well not exactly. Charge offs and bankruptcy fall off over time, but money owed is money owed until someone says the debt is cancelled. I know that much but I am just a stem-cell puller. There are at least 3 or 4 people who know more about this stuff than I do and I would start buy looking right at you bank. Best of luck. The Famous Texino
