Card Processing Center Rip Off High Late Fees HIGH OVER LIMIT FEES Old Bethpage New York
I've had a Newport News account for years now. Ever since the Newport News accounts have been transferred over to Card Processing Center, it's been a disaster!! First: You can NEVER catch up paying your balance because if you are one day late or $5 over your limit, they tack on a $35 late fee and a $35 Over Limit Fee. You can write to them until your heart is content, but to no avail.
Either there isn't a real person available to read the correspondence or the people who are there cannot read or understand English.
Second: If you are a little overdue with your payment, the phone calls start coming - quickly and incessantly. I explained to at least THREE different callers that I had an emergency in May that needed to be dealt with and I was short of cash and I could only make payments for the next couple of months in a certain amount, an amount that was not just a pittance but a substantial amount, until I was caught up. Then you receive your next statement, and the late fees and over limit fees are added and you're in a worse hole than you were when it all started.
Third: The "debt collectors" (and I use that term nicely) will call and call and call. It doesn't matter what day it is, or what time, but they keep calling!! They are a nuisance!!! I KNOW I owe you money and I intend to pay it, but do you have to call every single day and harrass me?!?!? As I stated, I have told three separate callers of my situation, they say they will make a note of it, but the next day, without fail, someone totally different is calling!!! And, half the time you cannot understand what they are saying since their English is so poor. My theory is: if you're going to call someone and harrass them about paying their bills, PLEASE pronounce their name correctly!!
When FCNB handled the Newport News account, they were very accommodating and very friendly. FCNB NEVER ADDED SUCH EXHORBITANT LATE FEES OR OVER LIMIT FEES!!!!! Card Processing Center is obviously just skirting the line of what is legal and what is not legal to get away with this. I know that late fees are acceptable with the FTC, but the "Over Limit Fee" is a discretionary fee that certain financial institutions charge the consumer just to make money.
I'm willing to work something out with them until I get caught up with my payments and it will only take a few months at the most to do so, but it's hard to deal with a company such as this who keep adding on these extra fees just to screw the consumer and to make money for themselves. Bloodsuckers, that's what they are. Card Processing Center is just as bad, if not worse, than Capital One!!!!!!!!!
