What was your first clue that David worked for Carmax? Was it when he said "I can personally vouch that Carmax completes a 125-point inspection on every car that is sold to the public; I witness our technicians completing these inspections on a daily basis." When he placed his rebuttal under the heading of "EMPLOYEE". Or was it something else? Please tell me.

Employees need to stop their lying and getting on here does not save face at all. Only makes you look like a bigger moron. David is an employee of CarMax.

Sir, I can personally vouch that Carmax completes a 125-point inspection on every car that is sold to the public; I witness our technicians completing these inspections on a daily basis. Do we use this inspection as a sales ploy? Of course, we do, but just because it is a motivator to sell more cars does not make it any less true or factual. It is also a fact that when you signed paperwork to purchase the vehicle, you were given a Buyer's Guide (identical to the window sticker on every car on a Carmax lot). It states that you are purchasing a used car with a 30-day warranty; we do not sell our customers cars "as-is." The Buyer's Guide also clearly lists possible items that could break down in a used car. We also run Autocheck and/or Carfax reports on cars, which are available for the customer to peruse, at their request. Though I am not familiar with the specifics of your case (other than your scathing commentary on this site), I can state without reservation that all personnel in the service department at the Irving, Texas, Carmax location are extremely well-trained and -qualified and have impeccable customer service. As for your allegation that you had to drive back and forth 50 miles to the Irving Carmax, I can only say that there are locations in Plano and Garland, Texas, which are closer to you. Each location does indeed service warranty repairs for cars bought at another Carmax location, so your statement in that regard was erroneous. If you purchased our MaxCare extended warranty, you could have taken your car to any ASE-certified mechanic facility or a Dodge dealership and paid only a $75 deductible (this is admittedly reduced to a $50 deductible if brought to a Carmax store). To conclude, I am terribly sorry for the difficulties you have been having. Unfortunately, situations like yours do happen, though we strive to keep them as very rare as possible.
