Let me introduce myself, my name is Laurie and I have been coordinating weddings (ceremony/reception) for over ten years. I have the pleasure of working with Rex Newport on a regular basis as I refer his services to ALL of my brides. Ninety percent of my clients take their "coordinartors" advice, meet and book CD Toons for their once in a lifetime event. The minute they email me with the confirmation that Rex will be the DJ, I know without a doubt their event will be top notch! You must not believe a WORD this father of the bride "Mike" has to say! How can you take a man's word about something when he exploits his daughter to TV cameras in her face on her wedding day? It's a cheap way to get out of paying for her wedding MIKE! Heed my warning and read on..... Aviara Four Seasons Resort, The Grand Tradition, El Cortez Hotel, Pala Resort and Casino, Pechanga Resort and The Mission Inn are a few locations I have coordinated weddings along with Rex Newport as the DJ. I'm passionate about my career and making sure every detail is taken care of for my clients. Rex shares my work ethic, he's meticulous and fun as he is professional. I myself am a newly engaged bride as of December 19th, 2007. Without an ounce of thought, my fiance and I allready have our DJ booked, CD Toons-Rex Newport. I'm one of the lucky & few brides out there who have had the chance to have allready worked with my wedding DJ. I can honestly gloat "MY WEDDING WILL BE GREAT! I HAVE THE BEST DJ IN ALL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TO BE THE MASTER OF CEREMONIES FOR THE MOST MEMORABLE DAY OF MY LIFE!" "Future couples looking for a fantastic DJ for your wedding, take a wedding coordinators advice and book with Rex Newport, that is if he is available! Most importantly Congratulations on your Engagement"!

Dear Current & Future Clients, and Mike Let me level the playing field and display the true facts of what took place that day. Let me first rebut the false accusations: - The clients did not pay me a dime (details for that below) - The equipment I use is very good. (Yamaha,Shure,Peavey,Crown) - Yamaha speakers 3yrs old/ Shure mics 1 yr old - The $750 charged was for a ceremony and four hour reception. Heather was the DJ that day and met with Mike and his daughter, Ashley, a few months prior to the wedding day. When Mike asked Heather about the gear, she said Rex, being the owner, would know more than she did and recommended Mike contact Rex with any questions he may have. At any time he could have called me to go into futher detail about the equipment I use. He did not. After a few months, we did not have a deposit or a signed contract and the wedding was in 3 weeks. About a week later, the bride Ashley contacted us. She had informed us that a reality TV show called Battle Of The Wedding Singers wanted to shoot a show during their wedding. She asked if we would decrease our price due to the national exposure we would receive performing. I said that I would not because this was just a pilot and there was no guarantee that any footage of us would be shown. A few days later, still no deposit or contract, Ashley calls and says that the TV production would be paying us for our service, NOT THEM! In fact, we were not to perform during the reception at all. After the ceremony, we could leave. The TV show had brought in one of their hosts to perform the reception. On that day, there was a major thunder, rain, and dust storm that delayed the ceremony for an hour. Rain was falling on all of the sound and TV equipment. There were three major factors at play here as to the dropout in wireless mic signals. There was a great amount of electricity in the air due to the electrical storm. There were many different wireless systems at work in the same vicinity, i.e. TV film crews. Finally, they placed Heather behind the gazebo where the ceremony was being performed. This broke up the line of sight direction of the wireless system. We always want to be in sight of the whole ceremony area; therefore we can see and hear anything we need to adjust to. In this case, The TV show didn't want Heather in the picture, so they placed her and our gear where the camera couldn't see it. This was the worst place for us to perform the sound. This being said, Heather and the minister did indeed perform several sound checks in between the cloud bursts and rearranging the equipment. Mike states that Heather was on the phone trying to acquire another job. Absolute lunacy! Heather was on the phone with me explaining the precarious position that she had been placed due to the TV show, weather and Mike's concerns. Know your facts, Mike. In conclusion, The FACTS stated above placed us in a very unique and unfortunate position. The fact that Mike allowed a TV show to turn his daughter's wedding into a circus and not about the joining of two souls probably has him more upset than anything. CD TOONS has been my livihood for 17 years. I have performed over 1500 weddings to date. My clients love what we do for them and we are very good at what we do. My reputation says it all. I do 80-90 wedding s every year and I don't advertise. Everything I do is referral. Your event was unfortunate due to the many reasons, yet you slander my name and company and place yourself on the verge of liable. I urge anyone with questions or concerns to call me anytime 951 314 4604.
