In 2011, I paid a $200 downpayment to Susan Graham of Aksum Abyssinians. After months of the runaround and no kitten, I contacted Karen Vance to see whether I could get a Aby from her. It turned out that Susan Graham and Karen Vance work as business partners. With them working in cahoots, I experienced the same bait and switch as the previous writer. I paid an additional $800 to Karen Vance and was told about the specific kitten I would receive. Before I received the kitten, Susan persuaded Karen to sell the kitten I'd been promised to a breeder. Later, Susan sent me a picture of another kitten I would receive instead. When I returned home after diriving from Maryland to Georgia after finally picking up the kitten from Susan (she'd made a business trip to see Karen Vance in Canada and took my kitten back to Georgia with her), I discovered the kitten I received did not match the picture I'd been sent. Fooled me twice. It was my first time purchasing a purebred kitten. It was my misfortune to stumble on two breeders with such unethical business practices.

I had an equally bad experience with Karen Vance at Cedarwood Cattery. It's just sad that someone who breeds and sells high-end pets cannot manage to be honest and straightforward with customers who want to have a nice pet. In particular, Ms. Vance needs to state all terms of a sale BEFORE the transaction, and she needs to KEEP HER WORD!
