Last year, on May 2007, I purchased through a Chrysler dealer (Champion Dodge Chrysler Jeep Of Barrington) a four-year/60,000 service contract for my 2004 Jeep Wrangler, whose existing 3-years factory warranty was to expire. In purchasing the service contract, I believed that the contract would cover my vehicle for a period of four years beginning on the date I purchased the contract (original factory warranty was to expire in two months).

However, Chrysler representatives are telling me today, that the 4-year/60,000 mile service contract began on the day that I purchased the vehicle in 2004 and therefore will expire on July 26, 2008.

I am appalled that Chrysler is selling a product that was in my case already three-quarters used-up at the time that I purchased it. Another way to see it is that Chrysler sold the same product twice if one considers that the cost of the original factory warranty is already inserted in the big tag price of a new car. It defies logic that I should pay extra money to buy a service contract to coincide with an existing three-year bump-to-bump factory warranty.

Essentially Chrysler sold me a one-year/24,000 mile service contract and called it a four-year/60,000 mile service contract. Attempts to discuss the matter with Chrysler have been ineffective as it is difficult to communicate with customer representatives who keep saying, "I am sorry you warranty ends July 26, 2008 but the effective date of your contract is July 26 2004, that is how the contract reads." Do I have resources? It seems a fraudulent action, doesn't it?

Rosane, I would like to inform that you have option to cancel the contract and recieve a full refund within 60 days. I do apologize that this was not clearly stated that any new car service contract starts at in-service date (date vehicle was originally sold)and 0 miles. My suggestion is to cancel this contract recieve your money and go to your local Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dealer and request for a Service Contract with Chrysler and make sure that they explain which one is better for you. You might be able to recieve another new car contract that will fit your needs. If not then request for a used car contract which starts from the date that you purchase the contract. Thank you for support and have a wonderful day Pam
