CIC Credit Monitoring Unexpected & unauthorized $79.95 charge! Internet
I am 18 years old and have no credit. After applying for several credit cards and being declined, I decided to apply for a "free" credit report. The application asked for a credit card number for "varification purposes," and I stupidly gave it away.
After receiving a useless credit report, I forgot about everything. Today I received my bank statement and saw a charge for $79.95. I was astonished that these people could charge me without my consent.
Please be careful of the information you allow people to access on the internet. This was a hard lesson to learn.
