My husband and I recently refinanced our home in order to pay off our credit cards. I called Citi-Bank BEFORE my due date and TOLD them that my payoff amount was on the way but that the check from our bank had just got to me and I wasn't sure if the payment would get to them on time because there were only 3 days before the due date. I asked them if I should overnight the payment to them so that it would get there in time for the due date. I was told by their customer service rep (she said her name was Evangeline)...that it was NO PROBLEM, I could mail it regular mail and that she would note my account so that I would not be charged accumulated finance charges.

Upon receiving my next bill, and having being told I had a ZERO Balance, my new balance was $150+ in finance charges!! I called and talked to their customer service department and they said they would take care of it - this was 2 weeks ago. Now today 11/17/2004, they called me back stating that I owe this amount that that there is no way I can get out of paying it since the payment was not received on the due date. I told them they have a nice little "scam" going here - as I would have GLADY overnighted the payment to them to avoid this but was told that it was not necessary. Do they purposely train their employees to give incorrect information so that they can get this extra $$ out of people???
