Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am assuming that since they were moving us far out of state, they figured they could get by with anything.  The first hint of a problem was they showed up without an appliance dolly.  It's not like they had not already surveyed everything we had to move, including a giant side by side refrig/freezer.  Instead of getting what they needed to handle this weight properly, they spied a very light weight dolly we had.  "oh, that will do the job".  They proceeded to literally slam/bump the unit down 6 brick steps to the sidewalk.  Upon arrival at our new home,  we had; a refrigerator with all the glass shelves broken and a damaged compressor.  We asked them to roll it out to the middle of the floor using sheets of plywood due to perimieter glued floor.  They assured us they "know what we are doing" and proceeded to open the doors, the pull it out of place by the door handles.  Both doors had to be removed (as we had told them up front) and both doors were ultimately pulled so out of place, neither would make a seal.  All of the sliding dividers and compartments from the doors were "lost".  The unit had to be replaced.  A sharp spiked lawn implement that pulls behind a mower was placed on top of a large, L-shaped wooden compute desk.  The teeth of the implement had gouged large divots out of the top of the desk.  An expensive PVC patio set was ruined because the table legs were all broken and the table top badly damaged.  A large chip was knocked out of the front of a not inexpensive Lane chest.  A Trek Mountain bike with less than 5 miles on it was so bent and twisted, it won't roll.  Most boxes that had clearly been marked "this side up", had to be turned over to see what was in them.  The edge of a coffee table leg was ground off, apparently rubbing against something else the whole way.  A 6 inch black skin mark was across the top of a white chest.  The table for my sewing machine was skinned on all it's legs and divits ground out of the top (lid).  A dryer that was ony a few months old had 2 chips out of the enamel and had "spider web" cracks in the enamel on the top.  This is far from a complete list of damaged and missing items.  It's only the high points.  After unloading, they informed us that our load was "a few pounds" over the estimate and that we owed them an additional fee.  They wanted approx. $250 more above the $3,845 already paid.  When we discovered the damage, we immediately stopped payment on the check for the additional charge.  They refused to give us any information about their insurance company, claiming "we had not paid in full".  Of course they would not want a claim turned in against them.  In fact, the damages, all totaled, was in excess of what we paid to have it moved.  Hell, we should have left it all in Raleigh and bought all new upon arrival.  If you need a mover, you better walk far around this one.  Unless you are only moving across town and will still be right there to get in their face as needed to get all your damages taken care of.

I don't know if you have gotten their insurance info or not but it is public information available online from the federal motor carrier safety administration for any motor carrier operating in the US.

The carrier you are talking about has had their authority to operate revoked 4 times in less than 8 years. They are not authorized to haul houshold out of state.

American Zurich Insurance Company is who you want to contact for their insurance.

You can get any info you need to get in touch or file a complaint about them on the FMCSA website and the SAFER.FMCSA website.

Let me know if you need any help or info.
